102 days without Covid, and community transmission. How does that contradiction happen IRL?

It must've gone under the radar. Any sort of countrywide disease statistic like that is bound to miss a few people whether because of counting errors or asymptomatic carriers not getting tested. If you look at the US, we barely have a grasp on an accurate number of infected and corona deaths, and many other countries are no different. Although this news is disappointing to say the least, it is still impressive how they have managed to go this long without massive outbreaks.

The Kiwis should be commended. Once for largely controlling the pandemic, and second for being upfront about community transmission.

Loopholes and lax behaviour. Some travellers are given quarantine exemptions. Transport to quarantine is also likely an issue.

Askanner

I work in travel and have not seen or heard anything about exemptions.

Things are not reported if no cases emerge [https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/16/new-zealand-records-first-new-covid-19-cases-after-women-arrive-from-uk-carrying-virus](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/16/new-zealand-records-first-new-covid-19-cases-after-women-arrive-from-uk-carrying-virus) Possible this time is an asymptomatic spreader caused this.

Askanner

She broke her quarantine iirc
