I've no idea how [wordleunlimited](https://wordleunlimited.org/) works wrt old/new wordles, but it's great if you just need more than one wordle a day.
I agree -- and this was the 2nd or 3rd ever Wordle and I was irritated. Could have been SILLY (my choice) I had a hard time accepting the fact that they Really wanted SISSY --
Todays is the first one that has made me leave it overnight (usually do them at midnight) still trying to work it out now vivid annoyed me too but got lucky when I tried livid
I gave it to my wife. She looked at it for half an hour and came up blank. I spent another half hour and it finally clicked. I guess this is why I love the game 😁
Lol I did that a few days ago when the word was >!ALLOT!<. After 1 or 2 guesses I was convinced I was at the precipice of >!FLOAT BLOAT GLOAT!< hell and had to sleep on it.
I had 3 losses in 149 attempts: "TRUSS", "PERKY", and "AMPLE", though they likely weren't the worst. TRUSS was bad, the others shouldn't have been that difficult.
The worst ones are the ones with 1 missing letter out of a common word pattern: SHA\_E, \_ATCH, \_OUND, S\_OUT, S\_ARE, STO\_E
Me too. Cover was my first guess and I was soooo excited to get 3 letters (in their correct places!). Guess #2 - boxer: nope. Guess #3 - poker: nope. Guess #4 - loser: nope. Guess #5 - dozer: nope. Guess #6 - mower: nope, I'm out. So far that's the only one I've failed on.
I got FOYER on my second guess. I almost put it as my first guess that day and was so mad I thought it was a stupid word. I don’t know why, FOYERs on the brain I guess.
I also was stuck in the \_ATCH words and for my 2 final guesses I had catch, watch and hatch
What I did was use "VOUCH" so that I could see if there was a "c", a "h" or a "w" (the w could come if all the "CH" letters were gray
I failed this after trying HOVER, HONER, and HOPER. I was such a new player at the time, I didn't realize people's names could show up.
My only other loss ever was LARVA, because I didn't know yet that repeat letters were allowed.
Currently sitting at a 96% winrate just because of those two.
It's definitely a word. But if you don't live in a particular country, or possibly even in a particular region of that country, I can see it being something you'd never hear.
yeah exactly, I'm from a country that speaks the same language but no-one I've spoken to has ever heard the word, I got it through brute force trial and error myself
match/ patch /catch/ batch /hatch - **WATCH**
i remember nailing 3 (or 4) letters (not all in order) right on 1 word.
nailing all 4 letters ( patch -> ?atch) on the 2nd word.
4 more false tries only to get the answer from the site.
edit - found a [screen shot](https://imgur.com/a/5l3mGpY)
also edit - my memory failed me on this one :)
That wasn't a bad word per se... the thing is that all those -atch words have the same sound. But "watch" sounds different! That's why I thought it was so hard.
Yup only one I've missed. Cried that night. Felt so stupid for not remembering that not all English words that are spelled similar sound the same.
E.g. bone, done, gone
I actually remember zesty is one of like three words that i got in two tries! I often use taser as a starting word and the est in it just made me think zesty 😭 honestly not the best 2nd guess in general but it was that day!
VIVID was my second ever game and my only loss. I didn’t realise that when a letter is repeated in a word, Wordle doesn’t inform you. My 93 streak should be 95. Still bitter lol
Vivid has so far been the only one I had to sit on most of the day, because there were so few letters left and nothing made sense. Got it on six but I had all my non-wordle coworkers baffled at/with me
My only loss was the day there were two word of the day possibilities depending on whether a player regularly refreshed their Wordle or not. I figured there was NO WAY they would use such a politically charged word. Yeah, I did not get the “shine” word for the day. I got the other word. I was so mad
DANDY (playing the archives). I got the -ANDY part pretty fast, but then went through CANDY, SANDY, HANDY…argh. I think that's the only one I've missed so far (but I am a newer player).
Edit: No, wait, there was one I missed last week, but it was down to me being very tired and I kept making dumb mistakes. Haha. "Do not operate heavy machinery or play Wordle…"
Vivid was the only puzzle I solved with a friend. We got it on the fifth try, but it was all thanks to them. I would not have gotten that one on my own.
I struggled with gamer, forgo and comma.
Generally, any _A_ER and _OUND word is bad form. NYT stop playing dirty 😪
I’m still mad about CAULK tbh. I know now that it is an actual word and it describes some kind of tiling thing or whatever. But I still feel like it’s not a word that most people would have heard of. Felt so unfair.
Really? I feel like I've known about caulk since I was like 5 or 6 years old, and also assumed that pretty much every household uses it at least once or twice a year to fill in a gap in something like a shower or sink.
"GAMER" from recently was my first ever 6/6 (been playing since #200), and it was 1 of 3 remaining options at the time so I got lucky even then. Even as someone that tries not to fall into the trap of keeping greens in every guess, ?A?ER and ?O?ER are horrible patterns because there are so many (varied) possible words that match, and it's somewhat arbitrary what is and is not in the answer list.
I played a few archives early on and lost on PAPER for a similar reason, on top of it having a double-letter.
LOWLY has been my only 6 so far. That was rough, I only got the O from my first 2 guesses and words ending in Y usually have a bunch of alternative possibilities. If I hadn't had a yellow L in the third spot I probably would've guessed LOLLY and lost
FOYER, ZESTY and LARVA also had me sweating a bit
I really struggled with LARVA. I remember just spamming so many words as I couldn't think of any word that fit in with the pattern I had (I can't remember what the pattern was now). I didn't clock it was a word - Lava or larvae yes, but not larva.
I can't specifically remember, but it's almost certainly the one that broke my last streak. :/
I'm quick to bail on hard mode as soon as I recognize the roulette situation though, which gives me longer streaks, but kinda cheapens them.
I’m still annoyed that my one loss, “HARRY”, was so controversial that they removed it and replaced it, and yet didn’t reset the win streak for anyone who lost on the original word. To this date it’s the only loss I’ve ever had and I’m still bitter about it
a recent one probably like allot? (i think?) or bayou. never heard of those words
also rupee because that word never crossed my mind and i had all the letters and just tried all combinations until it accepted it🤣
SISSY, wtf
That was the SECOND Wordle EVER. How did you even know about Wordle then?
Oh I didn't! I go back to the archives occasionally and play old ones ☺️
Do you have a link to old wordles? The one I had went away after it was purchased.
Unfortunately not, the one I used is gone now also 🙁 sorry!
Thanks for the reply 🤗

Today's is so hard, I was scared I wasn't gonna crack it
Same. First time I really felt a loss was imminent.
It took me a long time, even when I was lucky to get the first letter right and 2 out of place on the second try.
Yes!! I had 4 yellows by third guess and was still struggling to even make a single word, much less choose a best word.
I gave it to my wife. She looked at it for half an hour and came up blank. I spent another half hour and it finally clicked. I guess this is why I love the game 😁
I had to leave it too! But then I thought about it super hard based on a 🟨 that I literally had no idea where it could go
I forgot. What was the word?
Lol I did that a few days ago when the word was >!ALLOT!<. After 1 or 2 guesses I was convinced I was at the precipice of >!FLOAT BLOAT GLOAT!< hell and had to sleep on it.
Which word?
I had 3 losses in 149 attempts: "TRUSS", "PERKY", and "AMPLE", though they likely weren't the worst. TRUSS was bad, the others shouldn't have been that difficult. The worst ones are the ones with 1 missing letter out of a common word pattern: SHA\_E, \_ATCH, \_OUND, S\_OUT, S\_ARE, STO\_E
True. Especially in hard mode they are the worst
AMPLE was the best one I had. I always use MAPLE as my first word for whatever reason, so I got 🟨🟨🟩🟩🟩.
that must have felt pretty lucky 😀
Are those "whatever reasons" Canadian?
Surprisingly, no, lol.
The ones with the 1 missing letter are [the worst](https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/comments/ts6mzd/i_had_a_34day_streak/)
Ample was my second greatest game I started with audio then ample because of a quordle I lost earlier to that word
I just added (sorta) \_ITTY to [my list](https://www.reddit.com/r/wordle/comments/u4lz5o/here_are_the_word_patterns_that_keep_ruining_your/) today.
FOYER is still the only one I've missed in 130 dailies. So many ?O?ER words...
Think this was my only miss too.
That is why I missed homer…that and it was stupid world.
I also missed HOMER and felt it to be a stupid word!
I got FOYER on my second guess. I almost put it as my first guess that day and was so mad I thought it was a stupid word. I don’t know why, FOYERs on the brain I guess.
Oh yes, I remember almost tanking on this one
My mother in law, who is known for getting the most random words in 2, got this in 2
Vouch Went through couch, pouch touch Nightmare
Those are the worst to play on hard mode
My two biggest losses were HOMER because I never thought that'd be an actual word, and WATCH because of all the other _ATCH words I guessed before it
HOMER was the worst!
Homer is my only loss in 108 games
I only got homer because no other letter fitted. [Couldn't believe it.](https://imgur.com/a/kq5iBZR)
Me neither. But I just entered it simply to check and got it right. That was a frustrating one
Homer struck me as really unfair. I got it, but as I guessed, I assumed I was just throwing away the guess to learn about positioning.
I also was stuck in the \_ATCH words and for my 2 final guesses I had catch, watch and hatch What I did was use "VOUCH" so that I could see if there was a "c", a "h" or a "w" (the w could come if all the "CH" letters were gray

Thats the thing though. Names aren't valid inputs. The name Homer is because the word Homer means moron. I didn't even know that until this wordle
>Homer It's a word that means 'Home Run'.
...huh. After googling this, I realize that that sort of reference would be completely lost on a non-American, non-natively-English-speaking audience.
Today's.
It's a common starter word.
exactly! as far as I'm concerned it's not a word!
It's definitely a word. But if you don't live in a particular country, or possibly even in a particular region of that country, I can see it being something you'd never hear.
Having heard Credence Clearwater before definitely helps
yeah exactly, I'm from a country that speaks the same language but no-one I've spoken to has ever heard the word, I got it through brute force trial and error myself
Disneyland has a restaurant called that. Until I came to the comments, I had no clue this was an uncommon word.
Yeah a >!Princess and The Frog!< song uses it a lot. Still took me half a day to get it though 😂
match/ patch /catch/ batch /hatch - **WATCH** i remember nailing 3 (or 4) letters (not all in order) right on 1 word. nailing all 4 letters ( patch -> ?atch) on the 2nd word. 4 more false tries only to get the answer from the site. edit - found a [screen shot](https://imgur.com/a/5l3mGpY) also edit - my memory failed me on this one :)
That wasn't a bad word per se... the thing is that all those -atch words have the same sound. But "watch" sounds different! That's why I thought it was so hard.
This was by far the worst one. It’s the only one I’ve ever missed. This was a huge miss on their part.
Only one I've missed so far :(
That was the first one I ever lost, I feel you on that
Yup only one I've missed. Cried that night. Felt so stupid for not remembering that not all English words that are spelled similar sound the same. E.g. bone, done, gone
[I also failed on this one](https://imgur.com/a/ltiDKo5)
Never play hard mode!
but i like it more.
Fair enough :) I guess there's a strategy there of avoiding deadly patterns.
Learning to recognize "the trap" and composing a good filter word and keeping the streak is the game. For me.
SHAME, because not only did I X/6 on it, but because it flashed up the word "SHAME" right above after I lost, and that hurt, haha.
I can't believe only one person said epoxy... And the day before when it was like "Nymph" or some bullshit
Ha, NYMPH was brutal.
Todays for real. Vivid is quite a common word where I’m from so got lucky with that one. How’d you go with todays?
I just got lucky and managed to type in random letters. I had no idea what that word meant before tho.
Haven't tried it out. Will update once I get on it.
[удалено]
Spoiler alert
i got it in 4! but messed up one of the guesses
I hated ZESTY the most
I actually remember zesty is one of like three words that i got in two tries! I often use taser as a starting word and the est in it just made me think zesty 😭 honestly not the best 2nd guess in general but it was that day!
Probably the one today
VIVID was my second ever game and my only loss. I didn’t realise that when a letter is repeated in a word, Wordle doesn’t inform you. My 93 streak should be 95. Still bitter lol
I feel your pain
The word was KNOLL a couple months ago. Luckily got it on my sixth guess.
Oh god, I think I blocked that one out of my mind because I was so mad about that word.
That was my first loss. Totally forgot that “kn” is a valid letter combo.
Probably not the place to casually mention I got today's in two.
Haha. Me too. I think most people who use the certain start word ( that is a giveaway to todays word) will get it in two
I'm pretty sure the correct word is the only possible answer given that starting word
You mean if people use >!adieu!<
Nope
Yes!
Mine was something else
Amazing. What were your guesses?
So did my dad 🙄
Today’s wordle
True
Today's was the first one I though I might not solve. I got it, but I was grasping at straws.
It was a weird one, for sure.
Today’s was pretty tough
Vivid has so far been the only one I had to sit on most of the day, because there were so few letters left and nothing made sense. Got it on six but I had all my non-wordle coworkers baffled at/with me
Epoxy A word I’m sure I had never said in my life up to that point.
Come on. Epoxy is a word everyone uses in their daily lives like Hey Darling would you like more epoxy after dinner?
Vivid was the first that came to mind when I read your first sentence.
VIVID was fine for me I did Ideas Timid Vivid Guess I just got lucky with Timid
I quit playing after I missed FOYER.
The french wordle today was brutal for me Le Mot (@WordleFR) #140 💀/6 ⬛🟩🟩⬛⬛ ⬛🟩🟩⬛🟩 ⬛🟩🟩⬛🟩 ⬛🟩🟩⬛🟩 ⬛🟩🟩⬛🟩 ⬛🟩🟩⬛🟩 The word was >!ORALE!<
FWIW American Wordle excepts some French words.
Sissy and tiara
I think I got Tiara because I remembered the word from Harry Potter.
I would insert The Big Bang Theory "Oh, it's a tiara!" gif here, if Reddit would let me!
Outdo 🙄
They really outdid themselves there
As someone who doesn’t normally use American English I’d have to say FAVOR. It’s a six letter word damnit with a U.
NYMPH
No vowels. That's hard
HOMER. I actually quit doing this every day because of that one.
The one from today was very stressful!
Todays was pretty stupid, but nothing will ever beat WATCH.
Homer. That’s not even a word.
I read it in Monica Geller's voice
Those of us baseball fans say it on the regular.
For the sports fan: "The ref's a homer!"
I wasn't thinking and I got MONEY wrong
My only loss was the day there were two word of the day possibilities depending on whether a player regularly refreshed their Wordle or not. I figured there was NO WAY they would use such a politically charged word. Yeah, I did not get the “shine” word for the day. I got the other word. I was so mad
i got vivid in 2 😎 it was 100% luck and when i was guessing it i was like "this is a waste of a guess" lmao
I just remember being mad after getting it on the sixth try
PUPPY was the one that took me a while to figure out. Also the ones that end in IGHT or ATCH since there are so many possibilities.
Haha. "Do not operate heavy machinery or play Wordle…"
french wordle and it was SEXES
Wow. That's difficult
"Wryly" on a wordle clone.
My only fail in 135 games was CATER. Had the last 4 letters after the 2nd guess, tried WATER, LATER, RATER, HATER. Ugh.
Today.
VIVID because it’s the only one I’ve missed.
Idk why but I had so much trouble the other day with ALBUM. I was so mad at myself
In the Malay version, KAKAK
Vivid and Homer were the most irritating for me.

You know a lot of subs are automatically deleting your comments?
I’m still mad about CAULK tbh. I know now that it is an actual word and it describes some kind of tiling thing or whatever. But I still feel like it’s not a word that most people would have heard of. Felt so unfair.
It's a very well known word
Really? I feel like I've known about caulk since I was like 5 or 6 years old, and also assumed that pretty much every household uses it at least once or twice a year to fill in a gap in something like a shower or sink.
The trolls below acting as if its a common word 😭
Super common word.
Homer, because not a word. It's a character. Or yesterday's.
I missed yesterday's 😭 what was it?
Homer is a home run in baseball.
I hated PLEAT because I had no idea that was even a word.
For sure VIVID. GLASS Also threw me for a loop.
I was high and got that one in 2 bruh, I hit enter and started kicking myself before they turned green. Most insane thing I’ve ever done
FEWER -- my fist sixer (followed by FOYER and GAMER).
Caulk. Never ever heard of it.
Obviously you never played The Oregon Trail. :)
Nope :)
ALLOW, was my only fail. Bonus: Doing a wordle unlimited and getting XHTML as a word somehow
Whaaatt?
Proxy!
LOWLY has been my only 6 so far. That was rough, I only got the O from my first 2 guesses and words ending in Y usually have a bunch of alternative possibilities. If I hadn't had a yellow L in the third spot I probably would've guessed LOLLY and lost FOYER, ZESTY and LARVA also had me sweating a bit
I got todays in 3, but I think the hardest one thus far was watch
Banal. it was like my third wordle and the only one I missed.
The only daily i ever failed was HOMER because I didn't know it was a solution. SALET DIVER COWER GONER BOXER JOKER Fail...
Found is the only one that I failed. Because it has so many first letter options. Sound, pound, wound, round, hound, mound, bound…
LONER-STAID-CHUMP normally give me a solid 4-try win. Today's sucked, but I finally got it.
PROXY - really just never thought x and y would be used in the same word
Waiting for Xylem to be the word
Mammy, sissy & tacit
cynic was particularly hard but the worst for me was favor, it's the only one i failed because i'm english and didn't consider american spellings
The one today was not a common word at all. (Sunday night) I just threw it up there and it was correct but it was a lucky guess.
I hate the ones that come down to one letter and there are 8 ish possibilities
Kabob
Epoxy got me, because I had never in my life heard that word.
OXIDE & EPOXY
I really struggled with LARVA. I remember just spamming so many words as I couldn't think of any word that fit in with the pattern I had (I can't remember what the pattern was now). I didn't clock it was a word - Lava or larvae yes, but not larva.
RUPEE because I thought of it early, but thought, "Nah". Got it on about 5 or 6.
HOMER was the one that got me most frustrated. Really feel that shouldn’t be a word. I saw a lot of complaints about RUPEE but I got that in 3.
I can't specifically remember, but it's almost certainly the one that broke my last streak. :/ I'm quick to bail on hard mode as soon as I recognize the roulette situation though, which gives me longer streaks, but kinda cheapens them.

tilde is used in english. it's this: ~
Thank you!
(i think?) or bayou. never heard of those words also rupee because that word never crossed my mind and i had all the letters and just tried all combinations until it accepted it🤣
all of them. this game is for pussies
