Not everyone can do what Singapore does. It's small, highly educated and rich.

Pakistani_in_MURICA

Considering the saza of many misdemeanor acts in Singapore is a danda I'm sure Pakistanis can also be "highly educated".

b0ym4nb0ym4n

Singapore is smaller than Faisalabad

moralDilemmaStartup

So, can Faisalabad do it?

facewithoutfacebook

I like the way you think.

b0ym4nb0ym4n

Maybe we can apply this is Karachi But too much corruption

Anythingaddict

What are you talking about we can do that just have to give lots of commission to mafias and Sindh Government.

ZainTheOne

If PPP is interested then maybe

b0ym4nb0ym4n

Interested in corruption Yes definitely

Typical_Nature_853

and they have a better economy then us

pkanon

About 4% of Singapore's electricity needs are met by burning non-recycleable trash(source:wikipedia + Google). The environmental effects of this and the effectiveness of the methodology has to be evaluated over time. It is a good short term, low intensity alternate though, but not viable due to a lack of burning material. The good thing is you can make a similar plant for your own house at a small scale since the concept is fairly simple.

Iamkzar

Actually this is not the bad idea. Imagine every house required by law to make a small trash disposable room where you burn and it will filtered out from pipes.

pkanon

We may be on to something here fam! The initiative needs to have some form of incentive attached to it. This would be better than openly burning trash ofcourse but in Pakistan people would want to know what they get from it? Like enough energy tp burn a light bulb for few hours is not good enough!

Iamkzar

Agree!

Radioactive_chapal_2

No, not a good idea. Burning plastics releases CO2, just like any other combustion reaction. But instead of just releasing co2, many types of plastics burn to produce dangerous carcinogens. Mandating every household to have a specialized burning room will be very very expensive. Not to mention it'd be an extreme fire hazard.

pkanon

"Non recyclable trash" Carcinogens and other impurities have to be filtered out, otherwise you are correct, it would be terrible. Waste to emission plants are very efficient and environmentally friendly that open air burning which still happens in most landfills around Pakistan. Expenses can be reduced with economies of scale and fire hazardness is also not a problem if the whole process is mandated and controlled. We already have, stoves, geezers and heaters with no protection, however if a company was to make smart and small scaled waste to energy plants for the Pakistani market, they can add fire resist materials outside the incinerator and other features. Ofcourse you cannot prevent the stupid but that is not a good enough reason to let the waste problem continue to get out of hand, like the other ones...e.g. electricity

DistrictCivil7246

idhar karachi me kachra uthane ki ek gari nahi tum itna baray system ki baat karahy ho 😃 😃

jibby_tf

If Pakistan really wants to learn about how Singapore does things, the government should talk to the likes of Dr Shahzad Nasim (Pakistani origin Singaporean), who runs one of the largest independent global engineering firms in the world. A short documentary was [made about him](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x-EFmQv320). Serious and highly competent individual, who still has a lot of concern for his country of origin.

thenhk23

Umm collecting the garbage is actually the main issue. Rest isnt rocket science.

Fade-Into-You

Its half the size of Karachi and not ruled by ppp. They can do it.

Riqqat

PPP?

FaislabadiCow

Pakistan people’s party

tunn_

How are they filtering the toxic smoke to make it clean air. _If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is_

pkanon

Caution long read: [Clean incineration fact or fiction?](https://waste-management-world.com/a/clean-incineration-fact-or-fiction) One of the methods for this: [Durham York Energy Centre](https://www.durhamyorkwaste.ca/en/education-and-resources/how-the-facility-works.aspx)

turacloud

One thing people dont really know is that Singapore is a controlled democracy, same party and family is in power since independence about 60 or so years. A lot of what Singapore has been able to achieve is because of this. Singaporeans do understand this but because the govt is very efficient they dont really care. But there is a lot a curbs on personal freedoms and press. The Govt rules with an Iron fist. An amazing fun fact is that chewing gum is banned in Singapore because people kept leaving it on public transport the Govt outright banned it. So thats how the govt works over here, because the population is small they are very efficient and have been able to do wonders.

THE_MUAK

Their have been a bajillion attempts to do this in Karachi. One American millionaire of paki origin tried but government got in the way. Now they are trying it again but don't get your hopes up. I researched this for a school project long ago. The level of privatisation that is done in Singapore for garbage collection will never be allowed by PPP in Karachi

AFutureDataScientist

Singapore is half the size of Faisalabad, with double the population.

h2d2

I believe a few sugar mills in Pakistan are adding electricity production facilities from the waste generated during the sugar making process. If all mills in the country did that, it would generate over 2,000 MW of electricity. The basic concept that is the same as this video, burning biomass.

Ahmed_PK

We can start by fining people who liter and businesses which encroach land.

army_is_corrupt

Incineration plants are a smart idea. They’ll benefit Pakistan in a bunch of ways. Some rich countries send their trash to poorer ones like ours as a way to dispose of it, this has increased recently since China has stopped excepting it. This is illegal but still goes on. We could use such a facility to benefit from the excess waste received. In addition to common municipal waste, such incineration facilities are ideal for toxic waste(hospital, electronics, industrial byproducts, etc) that pollute underground water sources. Pakistan deals with natural atrocities regularly including floods, thunderstorms, etc(especially during monsoon season). There’s no efficient way of dealing with the huge amount of waste resulting from such events. Incineration has been used in other countries to deal with excess waste in such situations.

army_is_corrupt

All this being said, Pakistan is a poor country with pathetic leaders and a large uneducated workforce. We don’t have the leadership, investment, or workforce required to see such a project through. I don’t not except such a facility to materialise and work properly in the next 20 years at least. We need a revolution akin to the French Revolution that disrupted the socioeconomic order in Pakistan that keeps corrupt men in power and the masses uneducated. That’s the only way forward.

Ottawa-SEO

Singapore is the world's cleanest country, not Muslims but cleanliness is next holiness. Look at us, talking Islam all day and not acting on it, call ourselves ashiqan and not listening to our prophet. What are we become.

InjectorTheGood

It's easily doable, even with Pakistan's bad finances. Especially in the bigger cities like Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Pindi, Islamabad etc. We can't just keep blaming corruption, lack of resources and uneducated workforce. Most cities in Punjab, already have their Waste Management companies. And it can be done. In fact there are some ongoing proposals for Karachi and Lahore. This and the wastewater treatment plants in atleast biggest cities is a must. We love taking taxes from big cities and not giving them back anything. Only Punjab province is relatively better managed in this regard, and most Punjabi cities do get a good portion of their taxes back in development. Lahore generates 500,000 tons of waste per year. It would take "only" 290 Million USD for an incineration plant. That's doable for a big city like Lahore.

Radioactive_chapal_2

Singapore is like the size of multan and hosts the worlds most important port. Meaning that there is alot of wealth distributed among a small amount of people. You can see why this allows them to get rid of trash

shez19833

singapore became independent in 1960+? and look where its reached.. and look at us

shuaibqayum

This guy is a snake, a Zionist and married to a Jew, sponsored by the UAE.

havocprim3

tell it to Sindh peeps. They can't even tackle the HIV epidemic, the one they are complacent for.

no_530332

Achaa, nas daily Palestinian Zionist hai.

No_Geologist8362

dude literally nothing to do w the guy it’s about the concept in the video

no_530332

Bhai does it matter? People should know this guy’s position on that thing before they decide to support him.

Goro321

This is the downfall of our society, first of all its not his idea he is sharing a smart process which a country does and secondly even if its a great idea why do we have to agree with his religious standing before we agree or listen to the person? Prophet Muhammad PBUH conducted business with Jews during his life. In Quran Surah Nissah when a muslim stole something and falsely accused a jew Allah revealed an Ayat defending the Jew. There are a lot more instances like these. We are not the judge, Allah is the judge. This is the biggest problem with our society as we have become the judge and jury. This is Allah's job to pass judgement not ours. If you don't like this person's beliefs that's your choice and you can simply choose to ignore it.

jibby_tf

Big difference between Judaism and Zionism.

no_530332

You are free to have your opinions, and I am free to have mine. If you choose to turn a blind eye to his support of a murdering ethnostate, that is your business.

Goro321

Again no one is turning a blind eye to what's happening in Palestine. However that has nothing to do with the idea projected in the video. By liking the idea in the video nobody is supporting this Nas Daily guy. If you are that anal about listening to a zionist talking about something in a video then why are you consuming things made by them which is like 80% of the world's consumer market? Hypocrite much?

no_530332

Classic “You live in society yet participate in it; curious!” Stupid argument.

urmommafat

So just because he supports an ethnostate we should shoot ourselves in the foot by not utilising an idea that can be very useful for us

no_530332

If you read, I never criticized the actual content of the video, just the messenger.

urmommafat

It looks like u are discrediting the content of the video by saying the messenger supports zionists

no_530332

If you can’t separate comments made about NasDaily vs the very specific process outlined in his video, which isn’t actually viable for a country as big as Pakistan for the time being, then there isn’t much else I can do to help you.

SpacevsGravity

Doesn't matter what he says, fuck the zionists.

SugarForBreakfast

You're supporting the concept which this guy didn't invent, you're not supporting the guy himself. Are you usually this dense or?

no_530332

What does that have to do with mentioning he’s a Zionist? Does that detract from your ability to understand the video otherwise?

h2d2

Someone who wants humans to exist and live isn't automatically a Zionist. Hoping for a world where Jews and Muslims can coexist in Jerusalem, Palestine and Israel doesn't make one a Zionist. If so, call me a Zionist.

FutureUofTDropout-_-

I don't think his political affiliation is relevant to this thread but calling for Muslim and Jewish coexistence doesn't make one a Zionist. Asking for the coexistence of both groups dictated by ones terms does.

Riqqat

This is strawmanning. No one called him Zionists because he wants Muslims and Jews to live together.

Pak_Info_Bot

Thread derailment.

mabdullah_malik0

Not listening to a murtad You do know Singapore is a city state?

Riqqat

Based. May Allah bless and protect you.

ASS420dhuzz

The chinese had presented this idea to Pakistan a few years ago, no idea what's the update now.

PlopyPlopy

um but the smoke... the solid waste may be reduced to 60-70% but it produces alot and ALOT of smoke And theres also alot of trash here compared to singapore's trash so yeah i can't see it being a good way to get rid of waste
