I mean, my lazy ass would love one but in all seriousness this looks like an awesome thing for handicap people.
Not just for handicap people- but their caregivers too! Millions of people experience back injuries and long term effects after from lifting others larger than themselves, repeatedly, and in sometimes awkward positions. Think of all the doctors, nurses, school employees, family members, tailors even, who could benefit from being able to help good people get the things/care they need and deserve with dignity, and without having to potentially harm themselves. This kind of tech is worth making available at a low cost.
Doctors? Lol. They do zero lifting. That’s what nurses are for …
I am a doctor and I always help my nurses lift patients in the ICU. Most physicians don't, and most nurses even make the nursing aid or nursing techs do it. But depends hospital to hospital
... are you Jon?
🤣... No law says doctors can't be as depraved as the rest of us.
It's a reference to jon snow, nothing sinister.
Well…>!he did kill her..so a *little* sinister!<
Nurse here. Thank you for not acting like an entitled prick. If I actually get to open my own facility, any doctor who thinks they are too good to help someone with "menial" tasks is apparently too good to work for me and can GTFO with that shit.
In small practices some doctors do! I’ve seen it in adult special needs facilities I’ve visited, for example.
And here I am using my own two legs like a sucker
I am a doctor and I'll have the nurse take offense of that for me.
Honestly though, any good doctor does their own lions share of work. Though I have indeed met those who I honestly thought the nurse should have been the doctor considering how much they did.
Fuck off - doctors absolutely do heavy lifting at times.
Blink twice if the doctors still watching
Not even them. We have health care aides that do all.
Nurses? Lol. That’s what the CNAs are for.
Nurses?? You mean CNAs? Lol
And those of us who are caregivers to paralyzed people. I would love to have this for my father.
Yeah because we totally have the funds for these.
We will only see these in private healthcare.
I work in care. We already have slings, hoists and stand aids that do the same job as this equipment for what's probably a fraction of the cost. If you work in a care setting and you're lifting someone manually (except in a dire emergency), then you're doing it wrong.
You're not only risking injury to yourself and to them, but you're compromising their dignity.
Edit: I work in a country with free healthcare where equipment like this is provided to people who need it, so having to physically lift and shift is probably more of an issue in those that don't. That said, carers working in those countries are unlikely to have access to the kit in the video, either.
This would of been great when I had a cage around my leg and couldn’t get out of bed without assistance last year. My dignity was gone from week 1 and I had to go through it for 4 months.
Wouldn’t be able to help me sit in chairs tho but just the getting out of bed part would of been nice.
The aides in nursing homes would love these. They make similar non automated versions of the lift already. The maintenance people would likely hate the beds. A lot of parts to break on that
We use manual versions these is hospitals and I very much suggest them to anyone who moves a person regularly. Here is a link for anyone that it can help. Take care of your back! https://www.rehabmart.com/product/sara-stedy-patient-transfer-aid-47686.html
This is the answer.
My older sister used to move my youngest sister with MS from bed to chair to bathroom, etc. My older sister was in shape specifically for this purpose, and it was still extremely difficult. There were devices that could help, but extremely unwieldy and usually only appropriate for getting someone out of bed and into a chair, not the rest. This would have been amazing for both of them.
Yeah I think this could be super beneficial. Awesome
every walmart kart rider is drooling over this
Ah, I thought 'the porn industry '
That would be only a matter of time, for certain.
It’s like there should be a rule for that or something.
I have voted this for one reason and one reason only. Because a bunch of ablest cretins out there we’re probably thinking this way disabled people get hold down a job. It’s the porn industry!
Until it malfunctions…
Not gonna lie when I read the title I thought this was gonna be another sex bot but no this is actually really cool for those that need it.
This honestly looks like a step in the direction of a Wall-e society
.....and obese americans
I'll see myself out
My favourite comment of the year
There was me thinking fatty boom booms. But yeah, I supposed the disabled or elderly may get a look in as well…
wall e robots
You beat me to it, ha. Fat Americans are absolutely the target market. That should ensure poor people with disabilities won't have access.
This is what happened with Botox. It was used as a treatment for cp (and other medical issues) until they realized it made rich, white wrinkles disappear. Supply all went to the more expensive, plastic surgery, making it difficult for those with medical issues to gain access.
Or… let’s think critically about this… it could be used for handicap people.
You're making too much sense.
Or it could be used *to* hadicap people.
Morbid obesity is a disability, usually a self-inflicted one, but still a disability.
That's what happens when Healthcare is a for profit industry.
It's not health*care* at all, it's just a medical industry.
That's assuming supply is handled as a private business rather than a contained system.
It's ironic that it would be marketed for fat Americans but doesn't look big enough to accommodate them at all.
Doesn’t make sense when you consider the correlation of wealth with fitness.
The wealthy are generally not obese in America compared to the poor.
Know someone watching CP? Give them botox and they'll be a nonce more
Sorry to tell you but fat people aren’t exclusive to the U.S.
"I was giving you a warning, not an idea!"
\- every author of a dystopian work
It takes you directly to Walmart.

Probably me after my wife plows my ass with the 24 incher.

"bbw step sis fucked after getting stuck in a human forklift"
This actually made me spit up my water lmao
I made me half hard.
That's what she said.
"bbw step sis squirts, after getting fucked whilst getting stuck in a human forklift"
Bruh you got me with this comment lmao 💀
Well I guess I’m not as sexually frustrated as I thought, my first thought was drunk people
Well that could be said about literally anything.
I’m sorry, but it would be absolutely hilarious to see two people naked going doggy style while riding this thing in either in their house or a Walmart.
The obese population of America?
Soon to be super obese when they get their hands on this gadget
Yes America fat. Have you been to other countries lately? They are catching up.
I doubt we have enough lithium for all the batteries we'd have to manufacture for that many robots!
All of you people seriously saying only lazy fat people would want this are jerks and probably bullied people growing up. Ever hear of the elderly? The disabled? Maybe people recovering from surgery? Get a grip
It is most definitely for heavily injured and disabled people. I think everyone understand that and just being silly.
Easy, ever heard of a lil thing called a harmless joke?
But a lot of our larger brethren will be utilising this technology, you must admit.
It’s weird. I live with someone who can barely walk and has had many concussions from falling. Development of devices like this is a good thing. But all Reddit can do is make fat jokes.
Anyone who has had serious back issues knows how awesome this would be.
Oh my god this would have helped so much when I had severe muscle shearing in my lower back. At the hospital I was too injured to get out of the wheelchair to check my weight and height, or in and out of the MRI machine so it became the job of two poor nurses to cautiously lift my immobile, rather tall and heavy self. This machine could have totally prevented the further muscle tearing I had to go through just to *receive* *treatment*
Was thinking exactly the same thing haha. This would have been my best friend post-op.
That was my first thought. I could have used this.
After back surgery #2 the physical therapist who came to get me out of bed for the initial "make you stand up 6 hours after surgery" walk to the door and back was like five foot one. I'm 6 foot seven. All I could think was "Lady, I appreciate you, but if I go down we're both screwed."
Medical stand-up wheel chairs that allow the elderly and those with paralysis to move around without the need of another person.
Reddit comments: **"ITS FOR FAT AMERICANS!!"**
*It's easier to hate than it is to love.*
surprisingly, it seems to be a pretty even split between "this is great for people with disabilities and the elderly" "this would be used for sex/porn" and the aforementioned "ITS FOR FAT AMERICANS!!"
Damn, my mind read the post title and went straight to porn. But I suppose fat people could use it too.
how reddit mods move about their moms basement.
This would be great for the nursing/physical therapy industry that makes it difficult to pick up people after surgery. The only issue is it would have to be gentle enough on the patient. Plus it seems you need one of those fancy beds too.
I mean, if you have the money to buy the fancy robot in the first place, the fancy bed shouldn't be that far away from your reach...
Also I don't think the robot is made to just completely set aside the necessity of having a care taker there, just facilitate their job. In this cenario, the caretaker could help the patient to turn and sit on the bed so the robot could do it's part.
My grandmother was a big lady... 6'3" and about 400lbs. When she was unable to take care of herself, she moved to an assisted living center. She had to go to a place that worked with large/heavy patients. They had al kinds of machines to help the nurses move her from bed to the toilet, shower, help her get out of bed, dressed, and then she could walk with a walker.
There are many people with mobility issues that this device would help.
Nicacado avocado gonna go for the Reddit mod look
Isn't he already there?
Headed to our final form..
I think this would be a game changer for people in wheelchairs. I think some can manage on their own, but I imagine a great number need help just to get out of bed.
Discord mod simulator 2k23
I love that people work behind the scenes tirelessly to ensure anyone with physical issues can have as good a life as possible.
I’ve been a physical therapist for over 25 years. The mobility and independence that this could give to some people, and the burden this could relieve off caregivers, is awesome!
Yeah, the end user will be those with severe mobility restrictions. For those of us who have progressive mobility issues, this is ***hope***. It means I may not end up in an assisted care facility when my wife can't pick me up and move me to a transfer chair then move me to the couch.
GFY if you can't handle the concept that we'd like to remain as independent as possible as long as possible.
Holy shit we get it, y’all hate fat and disabled people!
Paraplegics? Nurses who need to carry paraplegics? Nurses in the hospital, rehab centers, People who have back injuries and then some. I wonder what they’re sarcastically implying in this post?
I get the shade you're throwing but this is way more for the nurses that have to lift and transport patients than it is for the patients themselves. They already have tools and machinery that does this, the innovation here is that it takes a massive amount of the physical load off of the caregivers.
Yo shoutout to wall-e
Still waiting on those pizza plants....
Wow!!! I really could have used this when I ruptured a disc in my back.
What a great step forward in accessibility for everyone. I love this. Regardless of who you are if it makes everyday tasks easier I say go for it.
This would be amazing for families like mine, who have disabled children that are now adults and need full manual handling from bed to wheelchair. We would like to dream of something like this but we all know the reality, that nothing will ever get supplied in a reasonable amount of time without a great fight.
Amazing for caregivers. This could help to not have a night nurse too. I'm so impressed
This could seriously help a lot of people with mobility issues.
People paralyzed from the waist down?
My grandma would’ve been glad to get up in this before she passed. Dementia is quite the bitch
For our elderly
These would be amazing for nursing homes!
These will be bumping into each other at Walmart by the middle of the summer!
Ah… this will make it easier to store the workers once they’re done working.
My handicapped sis stucked on hi tech machine
I think this would be awesome for ppl recovering from serious surgery. If they had a toilet that would work with that robot, even better.
I’m a fat guy, but I get around fine. However, I had a very serious surgery a few years ago that left me almost completely bed ridden for two weeks. This would have been a great help to my wife. Well, that and a bigger house.
Looks awesome for some handicap people
I take your in tire tock

People with clean flat floors?
Nursing homes would buy a lot of these.

Wroom wroom idiots
Anyone who has experienced significant back pain, this appear to be miraculous.
Bless this invention and the inventor.
This kind if tech would be a fucking spine saver in nursing homes where ordalies have to manhandle the infirm.

I've seen this before.
As a handicapped person I have to say this is awesome.
I luckily can Transfer from bed to wheelchair myself, but I have a lot of friends who could really benefit from this.
One thing less in the morning where you need to be assisted is always cool.
hey bot Im awake, bring me back to my pc!
Shut up and take my money!

It looks really useful. Especially when the patient is very heavy. That said, all I can think of is Homer saying "Bed goes up, bed goes down."
