If you want multiplayer, I’d say yes. I think a lot of anger is from people who only know the idea of Strikers and Charged. This game is a clear upgrade and has really addictive gameplay. Just get into an active club then you’ll have fun
It's worth it if you have a lot of friends you like to play with especially online, because the one thing this game does better than charged is allow you to play with more than two people at once. But if you only just play local 1 v 1s then you're better off sticking with charged or by extension the original. Unless you don't own them of course. In which case, I actually find the game pretty fun and I found playing through the offline tournaments to get coins and unlock gear for all my characters to be very satisfying and rewarding
Definitely not. Tiny starting roster (less than charged), barely any stages, and bare bones content. I would wait until they release the DLC. Even then I don't know if it'll be worth it. It's just not worth $60.
I'm gonna say absolutely not. Nintendo did not let Next Level games put this game out finished. Notice the lack of Daisy (on release) and content in general. I will say the gameplay is fine, I played it at a friend's house but even he regret buying the game because it just had nothing else to offer. I say save that $60 for something worth the $60.
The amount of modes and content for the online is nothing compared to a game like splatoon 3. But that doesn't mean you still can't get your money's worth. The gameplay is great with a lot of mechanics that take a while to master. I played for over 70hrs the first couple of months. If you are interested in joining a club and trying to get good at the game, you can get a lot of mileage out of what's here. It's also an amazing local mp game, both as a party game with 4-8 player or two friends playing co-op/competitively.
I played a few matches yesterday for the first time in a bit last night and was still getting matches quickly so there's definitely still a solid playerbase. The game sold around the same as the other mario sports games so it will probably have a decent online player base for a bit.
the game is solely centered on being played online. the single-player mode is shit. the price tag is way too steep for $60, especially with the lack of content. wait for this game to go on sale in a couple of months then snatch it, or dont.
Its fun but its not worth 60 USD.

It's not worth 60, I'd say it's worth about 20-25
It’s worth about $20 but it has almost no single player content and the online is limited
