The easiest way to avoid the bug is to not speak to her after the kiss scene. That's not hard to do.

55u55

Fair point. It's what I did on my first playthrough but I was hoping that they fixed it so I could see any extra dialog after the kiss.

Snigaroo

They didn't fix any basegame bugs, just bugs they introduced when they ported the game.

Northwind858

They didn’t even fix all of those. The gamebreaking bug they introduced at the Tower of Hanoi puzzle on Korriban is still present and has been for nearly a year, and at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if it were never fixed. It’s been nearly 6 months since the ‘Help’ article on their website was last updated. I contacted them directly about it two months ago, and received a response stating: > We are aware of this issue but unfortunately, we do not have an ETA on when we a fix will be available.

55u55

Yikes! How do you avoid that? With the bugs still there do you think it's even worth it to buy it on switch?

Northwind858

It’s an optional puzzle, so you can avoid it by simply not not starting the puzzle in the first place. You can also add the loot the puzzle would have given from the in-game cheat menu, so you don’t technically lose out on anything other than the experience. ETA: if you *do* start the puzzle, though, your game will soft-lock and you’ll have no choice but to load an older save. As for whether the Switch version is worth buying, it’s tough question. If you don’t have the ability to play on PC or Steam Deck, then in a lot of ways the Switch version is the best version available. On the other hand, it seems like for some unclear-to-us reason Aspyr are unable right now to offer much support for their Switch ports of both K1 and K2. This goes as far as them not even having updated in months the relevant ‘help’ articles on their website, such that some of these articles now contain information that’s outdated and demonstrably false. I want to be clear that I’m saying this as a person who has over 150 hours logged in the Switch version of K1: the Switch versions have a lot of really great QoL improvements compared to other non-PC versions. They’re pretty good. But would I buy the Switch version now if I didn’t already own it? Probably not. That’s just my opinion, and I’m sure others could have different opinions. The Switch versions aren’t irredeemable by any stretch. Just, if you’re asking me, I’d personally say at this moment you should get it on iOS or Android if you want a portable version.

Manic_Druid

I got softlocked there on my first playthrough and had to load a save at least half an hour back, not the end of the world but I definitely panicked for a sec haha

Snigaroo

Last I heard that had been fixed in the summer. Users are no longer reporting that it happens and I even checked with a few Switch users and they told me it had been corrected. Given Aspyr's state currently, it actually wouldn't surprise me if it had been fixed but they had fired all the people who remembered it had been.

Northwind858

You might be thinking of the gamebreaking bug they introduced in K2. That one was fixed, so their Switch port of K2 is now perfectly playable as vanilla; I know of no extant gamebreaking bugs in that one. [As of 7 October, however, the issue in K1 is still present and they acknowledge that.](https://gyazo.com/15205f940d6c36d55b5217af49e072a3) ETA: [looks like the Switch port of K1 saw its last software update on 21 January 2022.](https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us/articles/4421911062797-January-Update-STAR-WARS-Knights-of-The-Old-Republic-Nintendo-Switch-) This update took it to Ver. 1.0.3, which is where it’s been since. EDIT 2: for clarity, this was the update that introduced the bug; it wasn’t there in previous versions. Unfortunately, the Switch does not allow users to roll back to previous versions (at least without hardware or firmware modification).

Snigaroo

I think the last person I checked it had been fixed with was Jackie, but it's a resolution issue and it shouldn't have been possible to have been fixed on her modded Switch run unless there had been a basegame update to correct it.

Northwind858

I feel like we might not be discussing the same bug. [This](https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us/articles/6642840249741-Stuck-on-Naga-Sadow-s-Pillar-Puzzle-KOTOR-Switch) is the bug I’m talking about. (NOTE: potential very minor spoilers at that link) LATE EDIT: Jackie and I are actually Switch friends so I can see her 20 most recently played games. K1 is her 20th-most recently played (compare K2, 3rd-most recent). I can’t see dates on when these were played but judging by titles 1 through 19 I wouldn’t be surprised if Jackie hadn’t played K1 since last year. (For example, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond is her 15th-most recently played; knowing when that was released and her opinion of that game, I wouldn’t be surprised if she hadn’t touched it since late last year.) I could just ask her, lol—but later. I know she doesn’t want to be bothered right now.

Snigaroo

Yes, we're talking about the same bug. I did talk with people who said they didn't have the bug, when I specifically asked them to check. Maybe they were mistaken or maybe, in Jackie's case, the mods actually afforded her some sort of means around it, although they really shouldn't have. But I see everything you're saying, and I get they haven't released a new content patch, I just specifically talked with people who said they didn't get it when they tested.

Melchy

I can confirm naga sadows tomb still soft locks your game, happened to me a week ago.

55u55

That sucks. Guess I'll just have to look up the scenes on youtube. Thank you both for the answers!

Tuturu_Network

The best way to play Kotor is on PC with the community patches, fixes, and the Content Restoration mods. And this coming from someone who play Kotor on the Xbox for years before switching to PC

Lord_Dae87

I def need to try it on PC I've been playing Kotor since I was like 15 all the way back in 03 . Id love to play with some mods or some such

Tuturu_Network

same here I was like 14 back in 03 when I first played it on Xbox. Not long after the release of 2 I got a laptop for school and was able to re-experience the game on a PC. It was a game changer when all the bugs I had on Xbox or easily fixed with mods.

Lord_Dae87

Yeah that's what I gotta get around too! I wanna see what graphical updates there are

Tuturu_Network

As far as graphics, with a little work here and there(it can be overwhelming for the unexperienced mod user but there is a video on YT that go into detail on what you need to do), you can get the game to run Widescreen with up to 4k (4K Texture overhaul included), Better looking sky boxes and space boxes (for the Ebon Hawk battles). Reworked blasters/lightsabers/armor/character models (Check out the Bastilla remodel). HiRes Map fixes. But it's nothing special. It's just mods that make the game easier on the eyes, and "playable" on modern resolutions. Don't expect Skyrim level 4K Graphic overhauls. It's still an old game. But 100% worth replaying with the mods.

nakalas_the_great

What’s the bug
