How to teach a kid?

How to teach a kid?

I would suggest asking him what songs he likes and then you can teach him basic chords to those songs. Try and make it fun for him first. If after a year he’s still very interested, try to teach him theory like: What is a major scale? What is a minor scale? What is a triad? What is a chord progression?

This is a really good suggestion, thank you for your help. \^\^

First question: how old is the kid? 5? 12? Makes a difference. It isn't reasonable to expect someone under say 10 to be able to play standard open chords on a full scale guitar. Second question: does the kid like music that involves guitar? You'll have a more difficult time if not. Either way, you use tab. Especially for a younger child. Tabs of things they know: national anthem, tv/movie themes, even nursery rhymes. Older kid? Easy riffs. Basic chords.

He is still very young and he doesn't really like any music that involves guitar but I see him watch cartoons or nursery rhymes that has an animal or a kid playing the guitar on the background. He likes to randomly strum the guitar while singing to nursery rhymes. Thank you for this, I will take note of this. \^\^
