Arguably more. A lot of people somehow become more religious after coming to the west most likely because of the culture difference making them feel left out so they embrace their own culture more. My bengali mother came here with a passport pic with her hair out. Nowadays she wears hijab even at home... alone. I'm a bengali londoner but I live in an area where most Muslims are somali (the sense of "community" is a bit disconnected) so I'm lucky in that regard. Some parts of London, particularly the east, are basically south Asia. And south Asians are nosey and judgemental as fuck. The type where your cousin's friend's sister's uncle sees you talking to a girl and it somehow comes back to you.

Yeah it's probably worse for you guys as well because somalis are overwhelmingly Muslim majority and racially distinct so its more obvious. With brown people religion is a lot more ambiguous because even though Pakistan and Bangladesh are Muslim, Indians are mostly Hindu. So you can't guess their religion as easily just based off looks alone.

Add to that you rarely, if ever, see non-hijabi Somalis. Even the little girls wear hijab, which is utterly disgusting.

Great! Nice to meet you. The leaving Islam did not happen one fine morning. It was a gradual process. I had my doubts for a long time. But I was looking for an explanation within. Then I attended a seminar on Evolution and that was the final blow. I realized I was trying make sense of something that was never true. If I still just choose to ignore and make peace with all the other things that I like, then I will be the biggest hypocrite and won’t be able to respect myself. Then I got out of the cult.

Lol I was in Cali recently and a Latina with a hijab started talking in Spanish. I am Latina myself but not of Mexican origins. I think I saw quite a few Mexicans with a hijab on (most Latinos in the west coast are Mexican).

There is a rise in Latinos becoming Muslims In the US. I believe some South American countries even have small communities of Muslims. The same way Christians go around the world preaching, Muslims do the same.
