Our New & Returning Player's Guide, FULLY Updated once again for Season of the Lost!

MrJuanDuck

But like… does starting with the newer content really make sense? I just got into the game again and purchased the legendary edition (yes I know forsaken is getting free to play but I don’t know how that’ll affect the key prices and it was already rather cheap anyways), but as forsaken is getting vaulted in 3 months, wouldn’t it make sense for me to start with that? And then work myself through shadow keep & beyond light? Also; are old raids still actively being played? I remember playing the leviathan raid at the start of the game - and that thing was beautiful In terms of visuals and complexity so I’d hate to miss out on the raids of the forsaken raid just cause nobody plays it anymore.

Zerimar95

Hey everyone, I am a returning guardian looking for a clan to do end game content (Raids, NF, Dungeons). I have leveled up all three classes to 1330+ LL. I haven't done any raids but I am not looking for carries, I am looking for a clan that can help me learn them. I have all expansions and have the witch queen and 30th anni already purchasaed. I am located in Eastern U.S. and play almost daily. Steam: Swag\_Bean\_Sauce Xbox: Swag Bean Sauce

AG_LittleWolf

Maybe a stupid question: i want to farm the armor from prophecy but for now it only drop me legs chest and class items. I need to wait next week and hoping to get head or arms?

Present-Cattle-3476

I started right when the game came out and played until the Mars update. I also came back for a bit during Forsaken and quit again. I honestly really liked this game and I've logged on many times trying to get back into it but it's just so overwhelming. I want to start again for real this time, but I just don't know what I'm supposed to be doing first and I forgot a ton of stuff already. I was going to just do the story to increase my power level but I have no idea what to do after that and there's so much other stuff that wasn't there when I played. This might be a dumb question but could someone just quickly explain what they recommend doing first to try and catch up or learn everything again? I've seen guides explaining like basic mechanics but I already kind of know those, what I'm wondering is what I should do to progress.

GGdigger

Hey dude, it's not your fault, the destiny new player experience is absolutely dog shit. I would highly recommend you reading this new player guide on the op as it helps a lot with learning to 'play Destiny'. But to give you a short rundown, once you have finished the new light quest (and provided you have the expansions), you should start with the Forsaken campaign (you can find the quest node for it in the Tangled Shore Destination), followed by the shadowkeep campaign (quest node in Moon), and finally the Beyond Light Campaign (quest node in Europa destination). This is the chronological order of the story content that is available in the game right now. The previous expansions content can be skimmed through the director tab (on the top right corner of the director tab I think) where they give a brief recap of the story content that was vaulted. If you have beyond light deluxe edition, you would be able to play the seasonal story missions for seasons 12-15 (basically all the beyond light seasons till the current one which is season 15). However, if you are interested in the lore, I highly suggest mynameisbyf on YouTube as he has a comprehensive breakdown of the whole destiny 2 story from the beginning. If you don't have the expansions, then after finishing the new light quest, you can engage in crucible (pvp activities), gambit (which is a bit of a PvP/E mixture mode) and strikes (which are PVE activities set in the various destinations). I'm terms of endgame content you can play the Vault of Glass raid and the Prophecy Dungeon which are free to play for all players (but note that you need to level up your light level to do these activities. There is a comprehensive section in the guide on how to do it efficiently btw). There's a lot of other stuff to do as well like chasing destination specific weapons, lost sectors and destination specific activities you can do but for me at least end game activities like raids and dungeons are where destiny really shines. Like I said I would highly recommend you going through the new player guide if you have the time. Don't worry about build crafting too much right now but try to understand the basic mechanics of how the game works. Feel free to ask me any other questions!

M0un05ki10

I’m coming back after a four year layoff and honestly feel like a new player. I’m so lost. I did the beyond light stuff and the ‘cocoon’ mission to get the seasonal artifact. I’m at about 1230 light now after that. And it sounds like doing just about anything else in game with put me up to at least 1300. …but I still want to actually play the story that I’ve missed. I understand that there’s a ‘timeline’ on the destinations map but that only feels like something I might enjoy as a refresher if I’d actually played through those DLC’s years ago. It’s just not satisfying enough.

AGStyles

This is my exact problem with the game. How do you expect to get a lot more returning users when the main complaint is that there is way too much do to and the game is over complexed compared to what is used to be. I believe D1 got it right which is why I enjoyed that game a lot more over this one. Don't get me wrong, I understand Bungie wants to please the current players but at the same time they need to realize you can't get new/returning players when there is too much going on. Keep it simple, enjoyable, repayable, and fun. I don't want to have to grind to get a specific stat roll, armor piece, etc when I don't know a single thing about them.

dmbardal

I tried reading up on where I’m supposed to start, but I just cant find anywhere regarding where I’m «supposed» to go to start questing for the lore. Previously I had so many quests (a year or two ago), but now I just cant figure out where to start - I just want to go through the story of it all. Why is it so hard to do that? I’m lesning towards a new account just so I’m 100% fresh 😅

hogarthy2018

I know how it feels, so I dicided to do everything that was new to the game, first and when I had some free time I did the oldest content. Doing the new stuff I could relate what's going on in the comunity, and slowly catching up with the things that passed. Now I'm up to date on 3 character. For me was the best way, so maybe it could help you too :)

Astro_Spud

Stopped playing years ago. Should I dismantle all my 1100 gear besides exotics and just collect new stuff?

tasty_toxic_waste

Anything that has a gray triangle on the top left is sunset and cannot be leveled up any more

Riftus

Id just grind out some events and quests and then using any upgrade mods u have to infuse any legendary 1100s u have to 1150 or any 1200s you get. that is, if you like them. If they arent legendary/guns u like just scrap them after u grind for some better weapons

Astro_Spud

I don't even remember which guns I liked honestly.

Key-Recognition2544

Would anyone be willing to help me through a master or gm nf?

brazil201

Im in the astraral plane intro mission and I cant find a path to get to the rocks I just see these white orbs

brazil201

i bought the celestial warlock bundle and the western front exotic how do I actually equip what I bought?

Golnor

For the armor: First, make sure you unwrap the bundle. It should be in your inventory screen, which is one screen right of your gear screen. Second, get a piece of legendary/purple armor, and inspect it. Press down in the inspection screen to get to the gear's cosmetics screen. There should be two boxes there, one allowing you to equip shaders, the other for universal ornaments (Which is what the celestial set is.) Alternatively, you could press down on the gear screen then click on the odd ball to get to the overall cosmetics screen. This screen allows you to mess with all your armor's shaders and universal ornaments as well as use the silkstrand from Ada-1 to turn armor into universal ornaments. For the gun: First make sure you unwrap it. Note that once you have unwrapped it you cannot refund it. I am uncertain if you can refund Bright Dust purchases. Also note that it is not the gun, but a skin for a gun. Second, get the exotic gun Monte Carlo. If it is in your collections you can pull it from there for some glimmer + legendary shards. If not then grind for it and hope. Third, inspect the gun, then press down in the inspection screen to get to it's cosmetic screen. As an exotic weapon it won't have a shader box, just a ornament box.

I am a brand new player who just got and xbox and I have no idea if and should I buy anything in the game at the moment. Game pass gives me access to the base game and expansions but I don’t understand at all what the point of the Deluxe edition and if I need to get the Deluxe editions for the previous expansions as well. I am progressing through the story but I am kinda lost with all the offers that keep popping up as I am playing.

Hatherence

The short answer: There are season passes and then there are DLCs/expansions. DLCs go on sale so it's a good idea to wait for a sale to buy them. It doesn't really matter when you buy them, they contain the same stuff regardless of timing. Season passes never go on sale, and are temporary. They grant you access to stuff available during that season (normally around 3 months, but some, like this current one, are longer due to real world reasons). You can view how much time is left from the seasons tab of the director in-game. The current season ends in February. It's better to buy these earlier in the season, because then you have more time to get your money's worth, but if you play a lot you can unlock everything in about a month. You really don't *need* everything. You should buy things that you want, because there are no nested paywalls. Meaning, you can buy and play each paid thing independently, you will never run into a point of needing to buy something else in order to play content that you already bought. So for example, you could buy Beyond Light and you would never run into a problem of needing to have Shadowkeep or needing to have a season pass in order to progress. I do not recommend getting the deluxe edition now. It's not worth it for most people. [The long answer.](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1991994652)

TheRandomRat

Welcome to destiny monetization lol. Game pass gives acces to all dlcs but after the launch of each dlc you get 4 "seasons" that continue the story of the game for the year and have new exotic quests or maybe strikes that requires the purchase of a season pass they're tied too. Some content of these passes is free for all like the seasonal matchmade activity ( astral alignment this season). Right now you definitely don't need to buy anything but if you decide to since everything is leaving game pass on December 8, get the beyond light deluxe + shadowkeep + forsaken ( both don't have a deluxe edition anymore). That's all content currently in the game.

jcflyy97

Hey all, just recently got back into destiny since GOS season, and can’t seem to unlock master or legendary lost sectors in beyond light. Current power level is 1264 and have completed the campaign and all lost sectors. Any ideas of what I’m missing?

tdevilx3

Did you double check which lost sectors are the legend/master that day? They’ve added list sectors from the EDZ, Tangled Shore, Dreaming City, and the Moon so they might just be on a different planet. Also you would need to recomplete lost sectors if you are on a different character that is not the one that you cleared the lost sector on. That includes the same class of you deleted and made a new character.

jcflyy97

I’ve checked each planet and I don’t see an option on any of the sectors. I’ve also on played on warlock class.

tdevilx3

I just did a little more looking and I think the biggest issue is actually your power level. I think I saw something saying you needed to be at least 1270 although that may be outdated so I would say you may need to be as high as 1300 to see them. Also legend is I believe 1320 and master are 1350 so if you are only 1264, you would likely have a very hard time doing either of them and would probably want to be at least 1320 to clear them consistently at a reasonable rate if your goal is farming for exotics. So I guess my only advice would be to continue leveling up and see if they unlock then.

jcflyy97

Thanks so much! Edit: just passed 1270 and they appeared.

beller79

Looking to join people on Xbox. Haven’t played since 2019.

Bandersnatch001

Just got back into the game a bit ago. Decided to get the current season pass when I got back and then proceeded to get beyond light since it just went on sale on steam. Am I right in saying that there is no other way to get the exotics of previous seasons unless I get the deluxe expansion?

Hatherence

To be extra clear: the season pass exotics are no longer paywalled behind season passes once the year ends. This is because at the end of the year, the 4 season passes from that year poof away. You can't buy them any more and most of the things they added get removed from the game. Instead, the exotics are paywalled behind the DLC of that year. So if you want the exotics, just get regular Beyond Light and wait.

Bandersnatch001

I see. Thanks alot for the explanation. Good thing I already have beyond light. Now I just have to wait for a bit

tdevilx3

That is correct. All season based exotics are locked behind season passes so if you did not purchase a season pass while it was the active season, the only way to gain access to that season is through the deluxe version. One thing to note though. After the current season ends and we go to year 5 (witch queen) all the seasonal exotics will no longer be attainable through their normal methods but will most likely go the weapon kiosk at the tower by shaxx and the vault

zephieee

Coming back to this game after about a year or two and well havent maxed out my light since season of dawn. (honestly feels like i stopped after forsaken ended) What are grinding routines/ quests that i should do to catch up in terms of light to be able to do the new raids or events? What is the optimal player light for the season? and what weapons are meta jn terms of pve? Exotic weapons that i recall having are; thousand voices, izanagi’s burden, and whisper of the worm, and that electric sticky bomb gradnade laucnher from that earth raid.

DonnieZonac

Hey all, fairly newly back. How do I do a Master Nightfall? I’m trying to get the achievements and this is my last one. I’m having trouble finding it.

Golnor

In the director, open the strike menu, then select the nightfall version. There should be a difficulty select option. Note that the higher difficulties do not have matchmaking, so you will have to find a team first. There are people that can do Grandmasters solo, but they have too much free time.

WindowsXp_ExplorerI

Hi i bought the game day 1 on disc. I haven't played it for some years and now i'd like to start playing it again. What should i buy on ps4 to get all the expansions?

Golnor

For everything currently available, Legendary edition + Beyond Light Deluxe Upgrade.

Reddit_user_1414

I think the cheaper option would be to buy the beyond light deluxe edition and each expansion separately. Right now now they have really good deals until December 1st

AussieJaysFan

Hello. Sorry for stupid Questions. Played D1 till it died. Played D2 for 10 min and didn't pick it back up. Got a series X and thought, why not. So cross-saved from PS4 to series X. What do I start doing now? Just missions till I know what's next? I know some content has gone on sale.. what route should I go for this Witch DLC. Thank you.

Idnait

First try it, xbox game pass for 3 months , for 1$, all expansions.

thiscantbeanything

Till the 7th

Idnait

Bummer for console, staying on pc

thiscantbeanything

I wonder if it will still be available on the Android Game Pass app

Elbludo

Someone on steam said that the Renegade expansion (which is on discount now) will be free on December 7th. Is there any other expansion we should not buy and wait to be free (or is this guy talking bs)?

Golnor

The Forsaken campaign missions will be free to play starting in December, but will be removed from the game along with the Tangled Shore patrol zone once Witch Queen launches. Everything else (the dungeon, the raid, the exotics) will require the Forsaken expansion (which will be renamed the Forsaken Pack at some point.)

Good-Impress-1176

Do we know when this >Witch Queen Expansive/update going to happen. So they're removing the content, and reselling it, kinda weird thing to do

GGdigger

Feb 22, 2022 is when Witch Queen is going to release. Yeah it's a weird thing, imo they should have made the rest of the forsaken expansion (i.e. the stuff like the raid, dungeon and dreaming city patrol zone that is not being vaulted) free for all players. They did this with year 1 expansions (CoS and warmind). Not sure why they can't do the same for Forsaken.

RewTK

Beyond light is on sale, do you think it's worth an extra $20 to get the deluxe edition which includes seasons 12 and 13?

Boxofbabies

I'd say so, you get the cryosth-whatever the fuck stasis side arm for free (go to the app and click past seasons) and access to the story and the activities like Overide which is a blast

DaBigDaddyFish

For the Exotics and some of the other stuff that comes with it, I would. But it’s ultimately up to you and how much time you’re willing to put into the game

Reddit_user_1414

If you have a decent amount of time to play until February 22 then it's definitely worth it. You will have enough content where you will likely never get bored in a week. If you're a parent or university student or something and can only play a few hours a week then the base game will probably be enough to keep you busy every week. If it were me I'd probably buy the deluxe edition because you get access to the dead man's take quest and I think hawkmoon too which are really fun, but I also don't have kids and my gf and I play together so we play a lot. It's all up to your personal circumstances!

RewTK

Maybe I should clarify, I don't have seasons 12 and 13 and I mainly want the guns. Do you think it's worth the extra $20 for those guns? I don't know if I'll be able to get them after witch queen comes out

Reddit_user_1414

Ah OK so you're just upgrading then? If you're upgrading to get Dead Man's Tale and the Presage quest (Dead Man's Tale) I would say $20 might be a bit expensive but it's still pretty fun. At the end of the day it's up to you

RewTK

Thanks for responding I appreciate it!

Reddit_user_1414

No problem! Sorry I couldn't be more help!

MagicPillow64

hello, i wonder how can i increase my power level faster, I’m now at 1,320 and I understand that I can get pinnacle rewards to get a gear with higher power level. However, I understand that there are only 3-4 pinnacle rewards that I can receive per week (solo). Therefore, at this rate, I believe I will get to 1,330 in 20 weeks or so, - Is there faster way to increase power level playing solo?

GGdigger

The best way is to play the VoG raid as that alone gives you 4 pinnacle rewards and you can gain 9 more pinnacles from non-raid activities (Europa has 2 sources, NF 100k, 3 each for strike gambit and crucible, presage exotic mission, Hawkmoon exotic mission, prophecy dungeon). So in total you'll be getting 13 sources of pinnacles every week. If you want to optimize even more, you'd want to make 2 more characters and do the same for them as well.

DaBigDaddyFish

If you go through LFG there are people who’d be willing to teach you Vault of Glass and Prophecy(both are great for Pinnacles). I’d be happy to teach you both in the near future if you’d like :)

Golnor

Powerfuls can drop above 1320, but only up to your average power. So you could use those to backfill low spots. I really recommend not only playing solo. I personally have had very few negative group events, and I don't think I'm that lucky.

GCTacos

Is it possible to hit 100 for the season rewards if I started today?

Hatherence

Yes. If you play a lot you can comfortably get to 100 in a single month. This season ends in February, so you have a lot of time. You can view the time remaining in a season from the "season" tab of the director in-game.

Sballr28

As a new player in season 15. Is the compass the only way for me to get well mods? I noticed the splicer sold some too but I can’t buy them without the deluxe edition of beyond light.

Hatherence

After doing the free sample of Season of the Chosen quests, you can, for some reason, buy mods from the war table without needing to pay money. Ada-1 sells past seasons' mods, and sometimes well of light ones will appear in her inventory. She sells different mods every day.

Sballr28

Do you know where the Season of the Chosen starts?

thiscantbeanything

I believe you need to do the proving grounds strike on nessus to start it. That unlocks the war table in the helm.

Hatherence

I don't recall what the first mission is called. On the left side of the director, do you have a Season of the Chosen icon in the list if intro quests? You press and hold a button to expand the list. On PC, the default key is E. [Look in the upper left corner of this item's picture](https://www.light.gg/db/items/3260753130/ticuus-divination/) for what the Season of the Chosen icon looks like.

GGdigger

I believe you can get the Intro mission from the quest archive kiosk available in the tower (near the postmaster) or at the helm (beside the vault).

Exhaledoom

How is it for a fresh player? Never touch D2 but seeing as how all other mmos I’ve been playing shit the bed. D2 seems fun, just curious

Warp_Legion

I’ve joined for the first time and immediately am having a blast. Haven’t even progressed the main quest, I’ve just been running around getting better gear and new weapons by participating in the like five minute events where enemies spawn in and you get loot in the first area and surrounding area (don’t know what it’s called sorry)

Exhaledoom

That’s great! Seems like there isn’t too much of a misses opening and I can jump in and not be swamped

thepotplant

If you're ok with not really knowing what you're doing or where to go at the beginning, and just want to low-key shoot stuff I highly recommend it.

Wizmor

i just got into it last week, ive been enjoying it quite a bit, im just trying to catch up to my group of friends that has been playing since realease

carlossap

Returning player (left since Destiny 1 ended). I don’t mind missing content as long as I can unlock exotics and legendaries from back then

ilusionzzz

Hey guys quick question here: literally just got back into D2 after a more than 2 years break (last expansion I played was Forsaken, the base game wasn't even free back then) and I'm trying to enable cross-play. When I last played, the game was on the Battle.net launcher (it looks like now it's on Steam) but I wanna play it on my PS5 now, any idea how to recover my old characters? Much appreciated!

WistfulAether

In order to migrate to steam there was a grace period of like 6 months a couple years ago. If you did not do it in that time, which has long passed, you cannot recover your characters

ilusionzzz

Ah, that's a shame... Cheers tho!

Skertelles

Is this game worth getting into right now ?

tasty_toxic_waste

I think so. we're in a story dead zone until february so you have plenty of time to get caught up.

Skertelles

What’s coming in February?

tasty_toxic_waste

the next expansion, Witch Queen

Skertelles

Ok

ryguyx321

There a video or something that will explain all the destiny lore up to date? About to start beyond light but I'm super lost lore wise and need a refresher. Thanks I'm advanced! :)

CaptainReject

Check out My Name Is Byf on YouTube. He does tons of lore stuff and has a full recap for new players.

obxMark

New player question… I tried the free to play version, and quickly got hooked on the gunplay, character build, and coop pve. Bought beyond light with season 15, and have progressed a lot. I couldn’t do nightfalls this week unless I bought forsaken, so I did… I want to use elemental well mods, but I can’t figure out how to create key codes for splicer servitor. My question : Do I need to buy the deluxe beyond light, to get access to splicer season content? And elemental well mods. Will that unlock the war table too? It’s a good game, and the free to play hook worked as intended… I’m fine with that. but just tell me what I need to buy to buy the game! the convoluted, unexplained interaction of all the DLCs etc… really ridiculous Bungie!

Golnor

Buying the Beyond Light Deluxe should grant you access to everything from the seasons of the Hunt, Chosen, and Splicer. If you already have BL, there should be a deluxe upgrade option available. As for the decypted data, the only way I know of getting it is from those season of the Splicer Expunge missions. There is one that can be run in under 5 minutes (Tartarus, I think.) Running the Override might get you some, but that is a 6-man activity which might not have other people playing it.

Stevo37_

Returning player here after around 5 or 6 months of not playing. Slowly easing back into things as there's plenty I remember but even more that I have forgotten. Any tips on getting my power level up quickly? I want to progress in the season story and am at a point where I have a power level 20 levels below the recommended level for a mission.

GGdigger

Right now you should do powerful and pinnacle activities to drop gear at a power level higher than your current one. There are many powerful activities in the game (see the guide for the list of powerful and pinnacle activities). The most efficient method is to complete all the powerful activities first, then complete all the pinnacle activities. (This is because pinnacle gear drops at a higher light level than powerful gear even though both types will drop at a higher light level than your current one) After that transfer your highest light level weapons to your other characters and repeat the same flow for them as well. You do not need to complete bounties to increase your power level. I highly recommend you read the levelling guide of this post as I think it answers your question exactly!

Stevo37_

Yeah I've looked at the guide and some youtube tutorials and have a general idea of what I'm gonna do to level up. The one part I can't get around is the whole transferring weapons to other characters and doing the same process for them. Is that to improve my power level in general or just for each character separately. This is coming from a guy who mains Hunter and hasn't really strayed over to the other classes as Hunter is just what I'm comfortable with

Conscious_Package

It's to improve your power level for each character. If you, for example, have each character around 1325 base power, do some pinnacles with, say, your warlock or titan and drop 1327 weapons, transferring them to your hunter may increase their base power to 1326. It's what some people do especially early in the season to reach max power fast, but with the time you have to invest the result isn't that rewarding. Not required to reach max level within a few weeks.

Stevo37_

Yeah I'll definitely consider it but right now especially I don't have a lot of time to grind to that extent as I'm studying for my exams. Afterwards once my school year has finished I'll definitely have time to do that so may consider it then

sumbozo1

I'm in the same boat, I put it down for 2 years. I'm at 1270, trying to get up to 1300 to progress the story and the blues are now dropping 1270ish and not helping. I'm thinking we're just going to have to focus on doing bounties or running strikes, etc to chase the powerful engrams. There's a lot more to do than when I put it away, that's for sure

Stevo37_

Yeah right now I'm focusing on bounties and weekly challenges to get powerful gear. Progress is slow for the moment but better than nothing

LoneRanger999

Guys have a question about cross save. So back in the day, I bought the forsaken and Shadowkeep DLCs on steam and played a bit (972 hunter and 1100 warlock) and left it after a while, recently I came back when I was told that xbox gamepass has all the expansions including beyond light. This time I got hooked and plan to play on a regular basis (1270 hunter and 1220 titan). The thing is I've heard that Destiny 2 is being pulled out of gamepass by December. So I decided to try out the cross save feature and make it so that I can play my gamepass characters on steam and buy beyond light since that's the only one I'm missing rn on steam. My question is now that have enabled cross save and can play my gamepass characters on steam, will it include my forsaken and Shadowkeep DLCs I bought already? I'm having doubts because it's being removed from gamepass so I'm not sure how it works anymore. Thanks a lot!

Golnor

It should? DLCs are not cross platform, so the only way you would be able to play Forsaken and Shadowkeep stuff on steam is if you own it on steam.

LoneRanger999

Cool thanks a lot! Since I had access to all the DLCs on gamepass with a subscription and not actually buying it I was a little confused how it would transfer.

Alive-Succotash-5906

Looking for people who want to complete weekly challenges. I used to play destiny 1 hardcore (flawless/completed every raid) looking to get into destiny 2 again. Current light level is at 1301.

GGdigger

Try r/fireteams. Lots of people will be happy to help you out! But in my opinion the best way is to join a clan.

Alive-Succotash-5906

Thank you!

Rave-fiend

If im out of the game for ages, and also a filthy casual not buying season passes where can I get good season story videos and recaps?

GGdigger

mynameisbyf and myelin games on YouTube. Myelin actually has has what happened this week in lore videos on his channel where he goes in depth into the seasonal lore and story progression. I highly recommend that if you want to catch up in that regard.

nodangles6

What is the optimal build for PvP? I am a lower light level trying to do some of the powerful gear challenges but get piped every time I load into a game… I also play on controller am I at a huge disadvantage by doing this?

Conscious_Package

Depends on the weapon. While most weapons are best on mnk, there's a few that have actually made some mnk players switch to controller on steam. The Last Word comes to mind. You could check those out on yt, along with general pvp weapon tier lists like the ones PattyCakes makes.

Hatherence

Playing on controller, you will be paired with other controller users. The only time you'd be in pvp with people on mouse and keyboard is if you make a team with someone who uses mouse and keyboard (note: you would have to manually join up together, the game's automatic matchmaking does not do this!) This is not the kind of game with a lot of objective "optimal builds." There's a variety of builds and a variety of item synergies. Overall I would not say gear makes as big a difference, it's mostly skill/experience. If all you care about is powerful gear, you can get plenty of that without ever setting foot in the crucible. But if you must, the legendary items from the monument to lost lights are all super solid in pvp. The non sunset ones have the most general use potential. I'm not sure if you are far enough into the game to have the currencies to purchase these, but there's no chance involved. If this is not an option, just use guns until you find ones that you like (usually it's best to bring 1 gun of each type, but some people bring 2 primary ammo guns into pvp).

Kyzar93

Is £60 a good price for the witch queen deluxe edition and the 30th bungie anniversary pack?

idealaspirin

where was this deal

Kyzar93

Cdkeys

idealaspirin

u tried it yet? saw a similar one in aud on instant gaming but they seem way too sus to work reliably

Kyzar93

I haven't purchased that particular pack yet but as far as cdkeys goes I've been using it for years and never had issues. Most recent purchase from there was battlefield 2042 and it was legit. They sell the 30th anniversary bundle for 16 and the witch queen deluxe separate for 45 too if you were worried you could test the waters with the 16quid pack first and then the latter and it would only cost a few quid more however I have never had issues. If memory serves me right I got beyond light from them too for pc

idealaspirin

bet. experimentation time. Any of the codes u got been revoked? doubt they check that shit but it's happened to one of my mates who got a key for rdr2 off there, lost access to it a month or so after

Kyzar93

I can't say it's ever happened to me

idealaspirin

ye fair enough

microwavedttea

given that it's usually 100€ (idk the £ price), I'd say yes

I-Forget-Stuff

Hello, newbie here, just got the full dlc pack (for an amazing deal) and I'm wondering if the beyond light deluxe is worth it. It does say it includes all 4 seasons and their content but does that mean that if I get it now I gain access to the previous seasons? Sorry if it was already asked

Ajuxy

I believe you get access to content like seasonal activities and exotic missions, just not the redeemable stuff like engrams, ornaments, etc

I-Forget-Stuff

Ooh thanks!

bing__bongg

Is it worth it to buy the Legendary Edition on Xbox for $31.99? It has the Forsaken, Shadowkeep, and the Beyond Light expansions. I know some of the content is getting vaulted soon but normally it’s $79.99. Is it a good investment if I haven’t bought any expansion packs yet?

GGdigger

Absolutely, if you are looking to play this game on a long term basis, I would recommend you buying it. All 3 expansions offer a lot in terms of endgame PvE content (like 3 raids, dungeons, destination specific activities and weapons etc.) that keeps the game enjoyable for me. And don't worry too much about the vaulting. The entire forsaken dlc is not getting vaulted. Only the campaign (which will become free to play anyways on December 7th) and the Tangled Shore destination are getting vaulted. The dreaming city destination, which imo is the coolest destination in the game and has the Last Wish raid, shattered throne dungeon and the dreaming city weapons, are all staying as are all the forsaken exotics. So if you are a new free to play player I would recommend you getting the pack. As for whether you wanna choose between this or the upcoming Witch Queen, that's honestly up to you as we will not know how good WQ will be until it releases but you already know all the content you'll be getting with the legendary edition. One more piece of advice, if you have a PC that can run destiny, then you don't need to buy the pack since all the expansions are staying on the PC version of the gamepass. Hope that answers your question!

Like21ninjas

Idk wtf I’m doing but I follow waypoints on cosmodrome a lot. And shoot bad guys. I didn’t buy anything just playing the free version…. What am I doing??

SPYDRWEB80

Check into [www.bigguardians.com](https://www.bigguardians.com). Set yourself up as a little light and we have "big guardians" that will link up with you and help with questions and game stuff. It's a great resource for new and returning players.

Like21ninjas

Game was fun. But I deleted it cause it looks super expensive for the expansions.

Smest00

Check some guides om yt. This game is a bit confusing even for returning players as myself.

Like21ninjas

Wow this is super helpful, thank you. I’ll have to go through that guide. I don’t currently have any expansions. But I figure if I get hooked enough I’ll pick them up. Just made it to the tower. I typically play pve content and will mostly stick to that. But so far the game had great gun play and is a lot of fun. Just confusing as all in depth games should start lol. Thanks again.

GGdigger

You're welcome! If you are on PC and live in a region where the gamepass is available, all the expansions in destiny 2 upto Beyond light are available for free! And don't worry if your game account is on steam since due to cross play you can just link your Xbox and steam account and you're good to go - all your progress and weapons are shared across both platforms. Like I said, if you like PvE, you'll love raids and dungeons. I would advise you to have a solo experience of the prophecy Dungeon (if you are high enough light level) as in my opinion it's one of the best dungeons in the game and has some really cool weapons as well that you can farm for. The Vault of Glass raid is great too but you need to find 5 more players for it as it is a 6 player raid with no matchmaking. You can join a clan for that or just use the destiny LFG either on bungie.net or the LFG discord. There are also the mini dungeons like the presage (one of the best activities that destiny has to offer) and the Hawkmoon mission which you should check out as well. Glad I could help you out! :)

Like21ninjas

I do have another question. I’m on PlayStation, what bundle do I buy to get everything?

GGdigger

Sorry I didn't get back to earlier. For PS to gain access to all the expansions, you'll have to buy the Legendary edition which will give you access to the Forsaken, shadowkeep and beyond light expansions. For Witch Queen, you have to buy it separately should you want to. But I would advise you trying out what the game has to offer from its current expansions before you decide to buy Witch Queen.

Like21ninjas

Thanks for all the help.

AsianFatChickenLegs

If I purchased the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack on steam, would I have access to the content on Xbox, similar to how seasons could transfer across platforms, or is it like a DLC where I have to purchase again on the Xbox platform?

GGdigger

That is a very interesting question actually. I do know that expansions like Forsaken, shadowkeep etc. are not transferred across platforms. However, I'm not sure whether Bungie is gonna treat the 30th anniversary event as an expansion or a seasonal content drop. Either way, I highly suggest you buy it on the platform you're gonna play on.

Sekotan

Which DLC do I need to play nightfall? Very noobish question I know but the game prompts me to buy forsaken but Steam recent review says it’s getting removed soon. On that note, how’s nightfall different from raid/dungeons?

Tappy12345

you dont need a dlc to play nightfalls and raids and nightfalls are quite different. raids are 6 person activities with lots of different encounters and puzzles to complete, it can also give raid loot which is unique to that raid and normally a rng raid exotic (1k,vex,eyes). raids need DLC's (except vog) nightfalls are strikes but an a higher difficulty and with champions on higher levels. nightfalls give better loot than strikes but take longer(high light levels are needed) edit:grammer

Golnor

Nightfall strikes are a bit weird. They are a harder version of the regular strike, with more shielded enemies and unique modifiers. And for some reason to play the nightfall version you need to own the DLC it originally came from. The current nightfall is from Forsaken, but they are on a weekly rotation, so you could wait till Tuesday when it would change to a different one.

rhg561

Yes next week is lake of shadows I believe so anyone will be able to do it

best_death_ever

I feel like such a noob for having to ask this, but I want to do K1 Revelation solo. On the legend difficulty. It says the burn is void and the shields are arc. Does that mean I should go in fully loaded up on void weapons and void sub class? What aspect of my load out should be arc to break shields? In a perfect world anybody who wants to help, what weapons would you bring to make this easier than currently I am experiencing? Thanks

SimplifyMSP

I’ve been working on a YouTube playlist for exactly this situation whenever I have a few free minutes. I really thought I’d uploaded K1 but apparently not. The ones I have so far should help greatly, though. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL98dsKXfxg_sWfuo7tTQSBfM3c-cdULom For Void burn with Overloads, “Le Monarque” is your absolute best friend.

Kaztora

You will need some source of arc damage to compete the lost sector before witch queen drops, such as a primary however void burn means you should use void for all your big damage, so I would take a void subclass and heavy weapon. An arc bow like point of the stag from the kiosk in the tower and a void linear fusion such as threaded needle would be a good set up.

Golnor

Void burn means that void damage is increased, both given and taken. I would put a void resist mod on your chest armor, void heavy weapon, arc energy primary, and a kinetic special. Which one is revelation again? Is it the hive one?

EducationalStomach35

I need help with the mission of the corrupted needs forsaken

Lyberatis

Does stasis singe affect stasis weapons like Vulpecula and Agers Scepter?

tasty_toxic_waste

yes

CGabz113

Where can I get falling guillotine as a new light?

atomos-kairos

Banshee sells them occasionally, not sure about where else. In general as new light you want to be checking banshee every day for god roll legendaries and Ada-1 for new mods you don’t have. Xur also occasionally sells worthwhile legendaries in addition to his exotic roster.

CGabz113

Thank you!

Golnor

I think there's one of the old season's umbral engrams that can decode into swords which can contain it. Edit: the blades engram from season of the Splicer. Although now that I think of it you might have asking about free sources.

CGabz113

No I’ll happily use an engram to get this thing. I looked through the past season but I’m very new so I don’t really know what to look for. I looked it up and they could decode that one in an old season, now I’m not so sure

Golnor

No, I meant you probably can't access the resource needed to decode the engram in question without buying Beyond Light Deluxe. The only way I know of to get the Decrypted Data now is to do the stuff from season of the Splicer (Expunge, maybe Override.)

CGabz113

Damn, well thank you for the info. It’s good to know there’s a solution, even if it’s cold hard cash

Golnor

Sorry dude. I wanna say it can drop from world drops as well, but if it does, it's fighting against like 50 other bits of gear. And I might be misremembering.

CGabz113

I just got a negative space sword with whirlwind blade? So I guess I’m good?

Golnor

That would be a decent sword. The big thing about Falling Guillotine is that it's a vortex frame sword, which has a different heavy attack that deals more damage but uses more ammo than other swords. I do think a whirlwind regular sword would be better than a non-whirlwind vortex, so keep it around.

Maximum_Nature6664

Be YoU

Maximum_Nature6664

CleverTwigboy

This feels kind of like a dumb question but I'm currently playing via GamePass on windows (so I'm playing on pc) and I was looking at getting the deluxe edition via a code, would I buy the Xbox code or the Steam code?

Djibril-Maximus

Xbox, via the Xbox App on PC.

Necessary-Advance999

Reading the guide, too but wanted to ask: Haven't played since Shadowkeep started, but getting back into the game now with some friends that are completely new. Other than Loot 2.0 is there any massively different things I need to be aware of? I ASSUME I do the same thing as before to progress past 1100? Is my Sleeper Sim still good?

Lyberatis

Stasis makes PvP nearly unfun when in small doses and unplayable when the entire enemy team is running it. Sleeper simulant is still good. Feels better than it used to the last time I pulled it out. To get past 1100, just do anything. All blues will be higher and higher up to a soft cap of 1320 right now, then you'll need pinnacles to go above. Powerful confuses me, but I did get one 1 light above 1320, but some don't do that... so I'm assuming they're just 0-1 above your current average power (at soft cap, but much more before that)

MUSHYULTRA

Might be a long shot but here I go. I am just now playing the Game, got all the expansions and was a big player on destiny 1 as I had a lot of friends who played. Now none of my friends play so if any of you are willing to play with me and maybe give some helpful tips I would love to make some new friends, thanks.

[deleted]

Hey dudes, I used to play all day every day until around the end of Season of Dawn. I quit because my friend group had beaten every raid and we had grinded for all the meta weaps (delirium, 1k and so on) and we just ran out of stuff to do. Is there a lot of new content since SoD or am I better off waiting a bit longer.

ashleytxtt

if my main reasoning for getting this game is playing raids with my friends, which expansions should I get and how many come with each?

BlazinBender

If you wait for December you can get Forsaken for free. Also, Garden of salvation is a great raid! Much teamwork!

tasty_toxic_waste

Forsaken has Last Wish, many people's favorite raid. Shadowkeep has Garden of Salvation, mostly good but the final boss is terrible. Beyond Light has Deep Stone Crypt, less challenging than other raids, but my personal favorite. Vault of Glass is free. The Witch Queen will have a new raid next year.

ashleytxtt

Wait it's free now? A few months back i saw comments saying there's no free raids anymore

Golnor

There was a period between Beyond Light and VoG launch where there were no free raids, but I'm pretty sure VoG was always free.

LoneRanger999

Hey guys, currently playing nightstalker hunter with the bottom tree perks, and I like it, especially the ability to use ult multiple times. I'm almost at 1260 power and would like to work on exotics. With so many options here I'm at a loss which ones are the best for bottom tree nightstalker hunter. Could someone tell me which is the best exotic weapon and the best exotic Armor for nightstalker? I will start working on obtaining them. Thanks a lot!

HazKerm

Based Hunter. Try using omnioculus or graviton forfeit. They are both really good for invisibility. Of course, Stomp-ee5s and dragons shadow are really good neutral exotics that you should definitely get a good roll on. Weapons for all classes are basically the same and depends on what activities you are doing. If you choose to use middle tree nightstalker though, precision weapons are great to activate flawless execution.

LoneRanger999

I see will try out the exotic gears you mentioned. I like using bows so I guess I should try to search for a bow exotic Thanks a lot!

HazKerm

If you want an exotic bow, Ticcus divination and Trinity Ghoul are both really good. Trinity ghoul is a world loot drop so you can get it from exotic engrams and Ticcus divination is at the Kiosk in Beyond light expansion.

LoneRanger999

Got it, thanks a lot!

Appropriate_Bat_6248

What should I do? I am new and don't have beyond light

HazKerm

Play a variety of things and see what you enjoy. Play crucible and strikes as they’re really good base gameplay. Gambit is also good but if you ever see the Driftor in gambit, please kill him. Grinding up to the power and pinnacle caps is fun and getting through the seasonal content is a good start too.

ZeDumpsterFire

Just picked up this game and i am having a blast. Still trying to figure out a lot of stuff. Thank you very much for this guide.

WoofyFloofy

I’m curious after seeing the new buffs. I have whisper of the worm but no catalyst for it. Will it be worth using or should I just keep it in the vault I until bungie rereleases the catalyst?

Golnor

If you have 1k or sleeper, no.

DanielColes93

I'm really confused. I've recently started playing again, got all previous DLC and got Beyond Light. I've bought the Season Pass but there's some activities I can't play, saying I require Beyond Light?

Golnor

Those might be requiring the BL deluxe edition. There is a BL deluxe upgrade floating around in the store. Which activities are they?

Hatherence

Do you play on multiple platforms? Season pass ownership works across platforms, but DLC ownership is per platform.

exodusthefluffy

D2 PC LFG link is expired :( would love to join that discord server.

WistfulAether

discord.gg/d2lfg They removed the PC part

exodusthefluffy

>discord.gg/d2lfg Thank you! :D

MankeyMaster

Am I missing something in the crucible? I'm not aweful at pvp, but I'm trying to do the new light quests that require me to do the crucible and I'm getting stomped super hard. I'll put 5 or 6 good shots into some people and barely scrape their shield, even with a lucky headshot, but they shoot me twice and I die. I'm really at a loss. At this point I'm just gonna get the quests done and drop crucible entirely.

elliotboney

This! Not even in iron banner but I swear I die from two shots out of no where and when I sneak up on some one, gotta unload on them. I'm probably just getting too old

Hatherence

Some possibilities: 1. They are using special (green ammo) weapons. Many of these one shot. 2. You are not hitting headshots 3. You are shooting short range guns at long range. 4. This was last week and you were in Iron Banner, a game mode where power level advantages are enabled (you can tell this by hovering over the activity, regular crucible game modes say "level advantages disabled.")

juiceboxxhero

I haven't played since launch. I got the game on gamepass, all expansions. I open it up, guide says do campaign quests (if available) but from what i can tell, i have something in HELM(?) that requires season pass and a quest from shadowkeep. Is that what i'm supposed to be doing? It says legacy, but i ran around for 30 minutes trying to figure out what i'm supposed to be doing and i have no idea what's going on. This is worse than returning to wow mid-expansion....

Hatherence

The first mission of each campaign will appear in a panel on the left of the director. On PC, the button to view this is E. On consoles it should say the button in the upper left corner if you still have missions there to do. After that, the campaigns will be visible from an icon next to the planet you have to go to for the next step. Shadowkeep is a DLC campaign. I would say do not get too hung up on feeling like you "should" be doing something different and just do stuff that looks interesting or if you want to figure out what it is.

juiceboxxhero

https://imgur.com/a/KZTA6fO Like for beyond light, it says europa but i don't see anything there when i go to the map. I'm not so worried about stuff that i *should* be doing but that i literally don't know what there is even to do to progress my character.

Hatherence

You click on Europa and don't see anything? No map icons whatsoever? There should at least be a fast travel point.

Rain1dog

Returning player here I stopped 3 months after launch and just started again. I first bought Beyond Light + 1 and then I bought the legendary edition for 80.00( on Ps5 and it sounded like it included everything but the upcoming witch queen). I tried to play battlegrounds but I’m locked out and says I need to buy another “season of the chosen”? Is this correct? I would had thought the legendary edition and beyond light + 1 would cover everything. Can anyone offer up a short answer? Thanks.

tasty_toxic_waste

Legendary Edition includes Forsaken, Shadowkeep, and Beyond Light. it does not include season passes. The Deluxe Edition of each DLC includes the season passes for that year. currently the only way to purchase Season of the Chosen and other past seasons is by buying Beyond Light Deluxe Edition.

Rain1dog

Thank you for clearing that up.

MattyDrumm

I’m not a new player but i returned 3 months ago, and I was wondering: you know how every week Destiny 2 offers different things like increased Crucible points, or increased Vanguard points, etc.? Well how do you know what’s active in a given week? I know I’ll get a Bungie pop-up message telling me what’s going on each week, but sometimes I’ll be mid-button click on my controller and will accidentally close this message without getting to read it. I would think this subreddit would have a weekly featured post at the top telling you what nightfall is active and what activities are boosted that week, etc. but I’m having trouble finding any answers or resources. What resource do you use? Thanks in advance!

Smest00

Do I have to buy New Light to be able to play Battleground? I thought it required a season pass. That is why I bought Season Lost, so that I could play Battleground.

tasty_toxic_waste

New Light is the free demo campaign so I assume you mean Beyond Light. Battlegrounds are from Season of the Chosen. currently the only way to purchase Season of the Chosen and other past seasons is by buying Beyond Light Deluxe Edition.

Smest00

NOW I understand. Did not know there was something called beyond. Have read it as New Light. Thank you so much!
