green_berry11

Luno is different wallets for different coins? Then it’s gone. Sorry bud.

For-Mistress

Oh god, sorry bro thats it, its gone now. I hope it wasnt a large amount 🙏🏻

Cucumberfly707

Yea... But just wonder, where does all these loss cryptos end up if its not in our wallet?

For-Mistress

BTC and BCH are 2 seperate blockchains, so your BCH can never be processed into BTC, your lost BCH is in the blockchain right now not being able to be processed.

Even-Understanding11

If its the wrong wallet.... Then its gone buddy

Cucumberfly707

Eventhough its my BTC wallet? Oh god....

gohkaheng

Yes good as gone with no chance to recover. Welcome to crypto

mynameismarchie

Babe next time try to transfer small amount first. Last night i transfer my eth and ada but convert to xrp first.

Cucumberfly707

Thanks for the advice, guess I've learn it the hard way

IsItSafeToMine

This subreddit today and this post are prime examples of people getting into shit they don't understand. One of the basic rules of crypto is to not store it on exchanges or anywhere that isn't your personal wallet and yet it seems like everyone and their dog is doing it.

Cucumberfly707

Agree, went on buying cryptos cause of the hype and when the hype fades, so did I. Left the funds there (since its not much) and yesterday was panicking to transfer.

Amazing_Marsupial540

BTC wallet for BTC. Not BCH. But yeah, sorry for your loss. Hopefully the amount isn't too big. But imo holding crypto in exchanges is still more risky as you're trusting them to keep your crypto safe. It is in your best interest then to have your own private key and thus eliminating the need of a 3rd party to keep your crypto secure. Examples of a private wallet includes trezor t and ledger nano. You could check out what crypto they support in their website. Not your keys, not your coins.

What happens to cryptos in void?

Cucumberfly707

Damn, imagine the amount of money (cryptos) burn just like that...

morbo_2

It likely went to another BCH wallet on the BCH chain, problem is that you don't have the private keys. Unfortunately it probably is lost, but out of curiosity, do you have the transaction ID of your transfer?

Cucumberfly707

Yea, i have the transaction ID from binance but not from Luno, domt think it would be any use to retrieve the funds tho

morbo_2

You're right, probably can't retrieve the funds. I'm trying to get more familiar with reading the block explorers, especially for cases like this, I don't suppose you mind sharing the transaction ID or the wallet address you sent it to? But if you're uncomfortable with sharing due to privacy reasons especially, I totally understand.

mnkwtz

Welcome to the cryprozone

mrrfoxtrot

If you key in wrong address and key tag, I'm sorry buddy, gone..to the moon :)

Nipsters

Can try contacting binance customer service..

Cucumberfly707

Dont think Binance is responsible for this, they did their job of withdrawing the funds successfully. If anyone I should contact Luno.. Will contact them right away, thanks man

Nipsters

Or maybe both just in case..

Cucumberfly707

"You can only receive Ethereum (ETH) in your Ethereum wallet and you can only receive Bitcoin (BTC) in your Bitcoin wallet. Note that different cryptocurrencies are incompatible with other receive addresses. If you, for instance, send Ethereum Classic (ETC) to your Ethereum (ETH) receive address, the funds will be lost. Funds will also be lost if you send Bitcoin Cash (BCH) to a Bitcoin (BTC) receive address" I think that sums it up.. Its gone

Nipsters

Damn.. Sorry for your loss man.. Maybe next time test a small amount first before really transferring.. Hope a miracle happens and you get your bch back..

mootxico

There's literally nothing they can do. It's the nature of these cryptos. Wrong address = bye bye forever to your coins I have a hard time there will be a mass adoption to use cryptos as a form of currency as long as this problem exists.

LopsidedLeg9897

Exactly. This is the scariest thing about crypto and is also the reason why I am not fully invested in it. 1 tiny mistake and gone forever. Plus, not everyone is willing to study all the technicalities of transacting cryptocurrency (myself included). So stories like this can happen to anyone. I hope OP did not lose too much. I have heard accounts of people losing their entire life savings from sending to a wrong address. Scary!!

Nipsters

That's why you should dyor (do your own research) & diversify.. Don't put all your eggs in one basket, so to speak..

Nipsters

Go research about the dot com boom..

Pizzadren

Yup it's gone, how much did you transfer?

weeling2828

More careful next time.
