It's hard to overstate the impact SNL has had culturally, but in terms of sheer *quality*, 30 Rock is definitely better.
But without SNL, 30 Rock would never have existed, so...
I was shocked that NewsRadio made the list, myself, and I never expected 30 Rock to be as high on the list as it was.
I think Variety magazine could call 30 Rock a "show"
This is actually, broadly speaking, not a terrible list as far as these things go.
Interesting they ranked 30 Rock > P&R > Office > Community out of that awesome Thursday night NBC line up.
The most egregious IMO is Frasier at 75, especially considering the (deserved) high rank of Cheers.
I struggle with Community vs 30 Rock. I think Community has the best highs of any sitcom I've watched, but 30 Rock is unmatched in terms of consistency with 7 straight outstanding seasons.
I'd also say P&R is better than the office, mostly because I prefer the positive tone and it never drops off at the end.
No way, P&R is an unrecognized wonder of comedy television. Once you get to season 3, which episode wise is only about the second season shown, it really hits its stride, The further they drop from the office the better it gets
Hardly unrecognized when Rolling Stone has them on this list.. They're on Netflix too so everyone knows the show. And hey I really like PnR!. But they didn't reinvent the wheel and to have them at #30 ahead of comedies like It's Always Sunny, Chappelle's Show is fucking crazy.
The thing about the weird towns people being such a major part of the stories was kind of new. I do agree that those other shows should have been recognized better though. Sunny must be the most overlooked shows when it comes to actual recognition
And Atlanta which is still on. It has been good but kinda all over the place as far as narrative arc goes. But I guess it's heavily related to the music biz so they gave it a pass, being a music magazine.
Man I was super excited for season 3 to finally air and then maybe three episodes in just kind of quit watching and the anticipation of the next episode just sort of disappeared. Maybe I’ll try to pick it back up but it just didn’t hit the same as before for some reason.
Yeah just give it more time. It’s really short anyway. I don’t like mindless sex in media (tho I love American pie that shits amazing idk) but fleabag pursuing sex as a vice makes it very interesting imo
Succession is elite I have not watched Fleabag tho. I think it's fair to say succession shouldn't be in the top 10 since it isn't finished yet but when it's all said and done I will probably want it in the top 10
Is it not more impressive to maintain artistic greatness over more episodes and more seasons? If you cherry picked the best 12 episodes of Seinfeld do you believe that they are less critically acclaimed or broadly appealing as the entirety of Fleabag?
Fleabag was a clever and smart show but plenty of pieces of media have been just as clever for what amounts to half a season's worth of network TV.
I don’t really see it that way. I think it’s perhaps a slightly different mentality since American series are so much longer generally - I would rather have two great series of 6 episodes, if that’s the story they want to tell. I think it’s also difficult to achieve that much acclaim and fan base with something so succinct without 24 episodes a series to build engagement and characters.
I wouldn’t put Fleabag in my top 10 anyway, but then I wouldn’t put Seinfeld in it either. Seeing Frasier in the 70s and those two in the top 10 is a bit baffling to me.
Honestly a pretty good top 20. I went to the list in fear The Office would rank higher and I’m delighted to see it didn’t. 30 Rock fans: wonderful geniuses. Office fans: need to watch a different tv show.
I had to leave the office sub because I could not handle seeing another post about whether Jim did Pam wrong or people unironically wondering if Michael would have been a good boss
Hoo boy, I’ve only made it to 74 and there’s already so many things that have been done dirty. Frasier in the 70s? Fargo in the 80s? Blerg. And Party Down deserved better.
Now going to find where they put The Shield since then I know how seriously I should take this list.
ETA The Shield is not even there. This list is stupid. And Better Call Saul being so far behind Breaking Bad. Nope.
Ah, actually it is there. I missed some. It’s behind Columbo?!
Yikes - I swear it was not there when I looked earlier. Thanks for pointing it out! Someone else said they’d had a different top ten - I wonder if they’re playing a prank (or, more likely, I’m going mad in my old age)
ETA Nope - I somehow missed 40-50. I’m such a Lutz. The 40s is still offensive but at least it’s there.
[Apparently other people saw it as Fargo too!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Barry/comments/xp1jq8/barry_is_52_on_rolling_stones_100_greatest_tv/iq3ertb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
They missed a hilarious opportunity to rank "30 Rock" higher than SNL.
It's hard to overstate the impact SNL has had culturally, but in terms of sheer *quality*, 30 Rock is definitely better. But without SNL, 30 Rock would never have existed, so...
>But without SNL, 30 Rock would never have existed That's why it would have been hilarious!!
It would have been inscrutable!
This is untoward! It’s not toward!

Hilarious!

A show TV Guide recently called “not still on.”
30 Rock numbers among the shows on tv
Lemon numbers among my employees
We got on Wikipedia this week

Frajer deserves better.
And I should know. I'm Frajer.
I should throw some tossed salad and scrambled eggs at you.
Frajer, how's your brother, Miles? ;-)
Nothing left to do but beat you out of the best friends gang
I'd go 30 Rock, Community, Office, P&R personally but that seems fair.
You're right, and anyone who disagrees is lying.

And they left Black Frasier off the list entirely smdh
Parks & Rec is waay too high on this list
No way, P&R is an unrecognized wonder of comedy television. Once you get to season 3, which episode wise is only about the second season shown, it really hits its stride, The further they drop from the office the better it gets
The second season is way better than the first one also
Hardly unrecognized when Rolling Stone has them on this list.. They're on Netflix too so everyone knows the show. And hey I really like PnR!. But they didn't reinvent the wheel and to have them at #30 ahead of comedies like It's Always Sunny, Chappelle's Show is fucking crazy.

Fleabag and Succession in the top 11, talk about recency bias.
And Atlanta which is still on. It has been good but kinda all over the place as far as narrative arc goes. But I guess it's heavily related to the music biz so they gave it a pass, being a music magazine.
yeah this last season was ok. First season was great and 2nd wasn't far behind.
Man I was super excited for season 3 to finally air and then maybe three episodes in just kind of quit watching and the anticipation of the next episode just sort of disappeared. Maybe I’ll try to pick it back up but it just didn’t hit the same as before for some reason.
I felt the same way but pushed through, and it really paid off. The end of season 3 was amazing imo
I don’t watch succession but fleabag is some of the greatest tv out there
Succession is truly 10/10 but it's way too early to make that kind of call
Fleabag is a great show. But top 5 of ALL time? ...Eh, I don't know about that.
30 Rock is better
30 Rock was Succession before Succession was Succession. Everyone trying to take Don Geiss's spot.
Rest in Peace, Dan Goose.
He even claims to be stepping down then decides not to, fucking over his successor
Are you supposed to love it by the end of S1E2? Man do I not. I guess I'm a prude but the focus on sex is so boring.
Yeah just give it more time. It’s really short anyway. I don’t like mindless sex in media (tho I love American pie that shits amazing idk) but fleabag pursuing sex as a vice makes it very interesting imo

And Fleabag above Seinfeld
Fleabag should be above Seinfeld
Everybody boo this man! Boo! Boooo!
Your boos do not scare me. I know most of you are not ghosts.
Fleabag is approx 300 minutes worth of TV. That's a mini series or an extended cut of a Peter Jackson movie NOT a top 10 show of all time.
How does duration have any effect on this? Personally I wish a lot of great shows ended earlier before the quality dropped.

High-fiving a million angels!
Nineteen spots too low.
The fact that bad of brothers is 80th is an absolute travesty. Not to mention that the wire and sopranos aren’t 1a/1b.
Not bad!
Sesame Street but no Bluey? Nah.
Michael Scott would’ve been at Jan 6.
Now this is the kind of hot take we need. Go post this on twitter please I want to see the surely hilarious fallout
This list awful, Chapelle Show at 69? That's insanity
And below key and peele. How is that possible?
I tried rewatching it lately and it just hasn’t aged very well.
Kinda a dumb list altho seeing Simpsons at 2 makes me happy. This show and Simpsons should be tied for 1.
Pleasantly surprised VEEP being in there as well. Such a great show.
No Homonym, Q of J, or MILF Island? That list can eat my poo. Jokes aside, the list is BAD. Fleabag had 12 episodes! How can that be a top 10 show!?!
I didn't click on the article but I assume Bitch Hunter is # 1?
God Cop
Let us pray.
TO WHO?
Tank It!

The Shield is #48
Yikes - I swear it was not there when I looked earlier. Thanks for pointing it out! Way too high. 30 Rock is top 10 at least. And when I saw they had Fleabag ranked ahead of Seinfeld….. I stopped reading
The Deborah Show is #2
Wow, pretty good list. I’m with the folks that say Fleabag seems a little high. Good show, but that seems high.
Crazy list. Soprano’s #1 is a cop out.
That’s a bunch of gabagool
Sopranos the best tv I’ve ever seen.
Mad Men should be number 1 don’t @ me
Honestly I more or less agree with the top #20! Love 30 Rock, SNL, Veep and the Simpsons!
Sounds like they made 19 mistakes.
Wait? Did they changed the list already? Fargo was no1 when I checked this morning
How on earth would Fargo be number 1?
I… don’t know what to say, but it clearly was, also I think Atlanta was no 10 Like 98.625% confident
Weird!
Fwiw Friends was definitely 50 and not 49, and The Simpsons was a tad lower
LOL it would be hilariously dystopian if they were simply A/B testing the list and showing a different ranking for every reader.
[Apparently other people saw it as Fargo too!](https://www.reddit.com/r/Barry/comments/xp1jq8/barry_is_52_on_rolling_stones_100_greatest_tv/iq3ertb/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
Sopranos? haha no
OMG that list is shit
This is list is just one persons opinion
It's not though. https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/best-tv-shows-all-time-voters-1234599937/
I agree that the series listed are the top 100, but I don't agree on how they ranked it.
Absolutely freaking out that the Twilight Zone isn’t #1. The disrespect…
