MoberJ

I just turned 35 yesterday. Now to find a billion dollars

petticoat_juncti0n

Hey, I turned 35 last week! We’re you ‘04? 👩‍🎓

vukesdukes

I just turned 36, but ‘04

Rdubya44

Someone has a fall birthday

Private_HughMan

Unless they're time travellers, I think it's safe to say they were.

FishFrenzy67

I was confused for a second since i thought you meant *2004*, the year i was born

drugsarebadmmk420

I think they meant 2004, as in graduated high school in 2004.

FuriousDeather

Hello fellow Gen Z.

Digital_Chicken

I'm also 35 and graduated in 04!

someone1854

I just turned 35 on Wednesday! Who wants to GoFund my presidential campaign?

SandhillCrane17

I will but in order for my bank to send your bank money, I'll need you to write me a $1,000.00 check. I'll return back to you immediately, of course. It's a complicated banking system ya know?

FormerWindow

So… is my platform “I’m 35 and sick of this bullshit”?

Distinct-Employer539

So its official.. This is the Reddit primary?

FormerWindow

Vote JEDI: Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion.

NachoArmadillo

Y’all are gonna wanna support Pete Buttigieg

cunt_isnt_sexist

Just gofundme it. People throw money away on there all the time. I'll vote for you if you aren't batshit crazy.

manwithyellowhat15

Ok but our generation doesn’t even want to turn 30

StealYourGhost

I've been 29 for 8 years now and I'm confused why everyone is so afraid of 30. 🤷‍♂️

Alfith

Beginner. My moms been 29 for almost 40 years now. She’s got some real magic in her.

jolinar30659

You’ll all learn that 30s are so much better than your 20s

ulfric_stormcloack

I can’t see how it could be worse

jolinar30659

Exactly. I wouldn’t want to be in my 20s again

ulfric_stormcloack

To be honest I also can’t see it going better either, I just see a depressed idiot working a horrible job, the same thing I do already

TheSilversky64

Least you have a job mate. Source: unemployed depressed idiot

ulfric_stormcloack

I work for my family and they don’t pay me

RebootJobs

This one is way more accurate; plus, your body starts to betray you.

ulfric_stormcloack

My back already hurts

Sardukar333

Old people stop acting like you're a teenager who they treat like child (mostly), so that's nice.

ulfric_stormcloack

But I like being a child

MasterBathingBear

Except for the random unexplained injuries.

jolinar30659

That probably happened in your 20s coming back to haunt you. But I do agree about this. The body certainly is reminding you that you aren’t in your 20s anymore.

Reynolds_Live

*laughs in 33.

FlaviusAurelian

Better then the next generation who may want to get 30 but doesn't know if they can manage to get 30

Azrael_Alaric

I turned 30 this year. Actually loving it!

Petsweaters

My generation is 45-55 and we haven't even gotten a chance yet

babylon331

That, IMHO, is when it starts getting good.

hoopthejump

The problem is, if you have any new, different, or good ideas you will never get a party endorsement, and without that, the media will not follow you, and without that, you lose.

chasing_the_wind

Yeah the real suggestion is when we all turn 70 to vote for a 35 year old instead of a 70 year old

Sandmybags

Time for a new media

vicente8a

Trump did it by being a populist. The “establishment” Republicans all hated him.

kill-billionaires

Kind of, but he got away with it by having identical policies to all the other republicans, so it didn't actually threaten those in power. Yeah, they would've preferred Jeb, but that's just more to save face.

vicente8a

I mean you said that without a party endorsement, the media won’t follow you and it’ll make it impossible to be elected. Trump didn’t get endorsed by the establishment. He made the establishment bend over to him because he convinced a bunch of racists to outnumber the “normal” Republicans. I agree with him not going TOO far from conservative policies though. So I agree with you in that.

amahandy

Your cynicism is misplaced. Bernie got tons of media attention. So did Trump. But media attention isn't a 1:1 to votes. You still need the votes. And there are too many millennials who would rather bitch about X or Y (incorrectly) than actually *fucking vote.*

hoopthejump

Yes, Bernie got lots of media attention, but the bottom line is that the party didn't give him the nomination, they went with someone who represented the status quo.

amahandy

The party doesn't hand out the nomination you numbskull. It's decided by voters who vote in the primaries. Holy fucking moly. Why are Berners *so fucking dumb?*

AvoidingCares

Or you can be like Bernie where the media will cover you constantly, but with relentless attacks. Source: https://fair.org/home/washington-post-ran-16-negative-stories-on-bernie-sanders-in-16-hours/

Telperion83

That was kind of Pete Buttigieg's whole thing....

Beneficial_Emu9299

Yeah the reason why these old people keep on getting voted in is because young people don’t vote

MelancholyMushroom

But it was Pete Buttigieg…

mercfan3

Who is great.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dnslater

I found him easy to understand but unfortunately today people want sound bites and not complex reasoning.

cameron0208

It’s not so much word salad as it is vapid. There’s no substance. He tries to appeal to the masses, but can’t even do that because he doesn’t ever actually take a position on either side of any issue. He rarely commits, and when he does, he often changes his stance once he’s in front of a different audience. In this way, he is very similar to Trump—a chameleon, willing to say whatever his current audience wants to hear. Much of it is also consultant/business-speak. As a consultant, this was one of the first things I picked up on, and I’m fairly certain anyone who’s ever dealt with consultants also identified this pretty quickly. He often reframes things, diverts, and is intentionally obscure.

MelancholyMushroom

Was he, though?

mercfan3

Yes. He’s consistently spot on in so many ways. His infrastructure plans are great. Pete going on foxnews and showing them all whose boss every once in a while is hysterical, and he works on his short comings. He wasn’t ready to be President yet. But that doesn’t make him not great. (And tbh, most 35 year olds aren’t. Just not enough experience. It really should have been either Harris, Booker, or Gillibrand. But I honestly can’t be mad at Biden so far.)

cameron0208

I liked Pete at first, but once I started reading about his time as mayor, I just can’t support him anymore. He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He was a *terrible* mayor. Sure, he’s attended top institutions and says all the right things, but when it came down to it, Pete never followed through on anything. He’s a true politician; a bullshit artist. I don’t trust him at all. He has brought some good ideas to the table regarding infrastructure. I’ll give him that.

MelancholyMushroom

This. Thank you. He’s so transparent and I feel like I’m crazy for being the only one who sees it. He lacks consistency and talked a big progressive game until it seemed to vanish overnight when it was convenient to a different base who could elevate him more?

kill-billionaires

Nah it's just a lot of people on this sub who cream their pants over milquetoast centrists who adopt progressive language without wanting to make a real difference. Buttigieg was a bad mayor and folded the instant his rich donors wanted him to change his platform. He would be quietly horrible leader.

cameron0208

It became very apparent from this thread that there’s some type of coordinated effort going on to boost his image and improve public opinion/perception. There are too many users in this thread throwing heaps of praise towards him, yet their comments don’t contain any specifics and they give zero reasons for praising him. And when I asked a user who disagreed with my comment to provide specifics, they never replied. This happened in multiple subs today. I don’t know why there’d be a campaign like this going on (perhaps in preparation of a run in 2024, backed by Pete’s new special interest donors), but there’s definitely something weird going on. Of course, it could just be that there are a ton of idiots who don’t properly research things before they decide to speak. That’s always a possibility too.

Techiedad91

Ice town costs ice clown his town crown

Poop_rainbow69

Yeah, I saw what you're talking about, but my takeaway from it is very different than where you ended up. From what I could tell he'd have been an outstanding president. His first go at mayor yielded really good results, and barring the bad press surrounding something outside of the scope of anyone in his offices control (because you are referencing the firing of his police chief, which was 100% the right thing to do), his time in office was well spent. Also, fun fact: he's better than Biden who has upheld the war on drugs and been on the wrong side of history literally his entire life.

NWestxSWest

Lol. Consistent is the last word most people would use for him. He started as a progressive but fell into a centrist narrative pretty quick into the race. Sure he’s really great at breaking down policies but I have no faith he wouldn’t just do what is politically easy just to fit in in Washington. People really just ate up the fact hes educated and gay and overlooked that he’s elitist as hell and has no business being president, but only got so far cause he’s a white palatable politician. I think he’s doing great in the position he’s in but has a lot to learn before he takes on more influential roles in the DNC.

babylon331

I think Pete will go far.

TreyHaur

But he’s just so… mayonnaise

Fallout76stuggles

Pete, why do you think why you can’t get the African American vote Pete: idk…maybe this (points at face)

HellaFishticks

Not enough CIA polish needed more work from Kinsey

puss_parkerswidow

I have a lot of faith in younger people because I can see the ways you are doing better than past generations, but it is very important that all of you vote in every election from the day you are eligible. It's also very important that you keep beating the drum of sanity and driving out the liars. Reject misinformation and disinformation. Don't let your peers buy into bullshit and lies either. Also, you can be 18 and run for city council. You can infiltrate this fucked up system and change it in many positions that aren't president.

AdrianInLimbo

Should read: "Someone from our generation turn 35, find a bunch of rich sugar daddies to pay for a billion dollar campaign, get the political leadership to actually give you a shot, and tell the "Liberal Media" to stop sabotaging your campaign" But I like the idea..

StealYourGhost

Tell all media to stop sabotaging American democracy for monetary gain*

GoSeeCal_Spot

The media isn't, Rightist propagandist claiming to be journalism are.

StealYourGhost

They're both doing it for capitalistic gain. Citadel alone controls a good portion of broadcasting and their evil crosses both sides of the isle.

TheRealChad318

Markiplier will be old enough to run for President in 2024

CarpeMofo

Fuck no, we don't need a fucking celebrity president.

hoffmad08

Unless they have the right letter next to their name on the ballot

Kurwasaki12

Hey chief, that only works for the horse paste sucking side of the aisle.

PixelPlop

Just in time

HaloGuy381

I vote to resurrect the Thanos 2020 campaign if it comes down to Trump vs Markiplier.

gracist0

Unfortunately, Thanos is not a US Citizen

HaloGuy381

*Snaps fingers.* He is now. Any more questions? /s

dmleon2

Oh you sweet summer child. It is not that simple

NHRADeuce

It doesn't have to be someone that young, just someone that isn't old enough to collect social security. Tammy Duckworth is 53 and would be amazing. She covers every base - female, minority, disabled, veteran, war hero, and all around bad ass that isn't afraid of a fight. She'll be 56 in 2024. If she served 2 terms she would still be 12 years younger than Biden when he was elected.

doublebogey182

We did something like that. He was 38. It was pete buttigeig. Hopefully it will go better next time.

ReElectNixon

Pete tried

gingerbeardman79

Pete was a neoliberal, just like the incumbent. There'd be little to no functional difference between his administration, and the already existing decades of neoliberal/neoconservative neglect that led to trump in the first place.

Ispira202

Then they will still be compelled by the systems in place. The better option is more of us run for office. Cuz if you didn’t realize the President is all powerful, if they were trump would have gotten away with a lot worse things

static612

Every generation says this. Hopefully this will be the on to do it.

AussieTrogdor

Are we just gonna ignore that someone posted D’angelo Wallace’s tweet on r/WhitePeopleTwitter?

I_know_right

If I had a nickle for every racist comment from people who can't read the sidebar, I could fund a candidate myself.

Kenji_Yamase

I mean Bernie was a decent candidate and he didn't win so ...

AdrianInLimbo

There gotta be someone under 60 that could win, just sayin'

LOLLO_102

Not to complain but the person here is dark skinned

QueenStabigail

And the point of bringing this up was...?

DeadlyStupidity

Isn’t this subreddit called WhitePeopleTwitter?

QueenStabigail

Ah, I see. I believe this is a "whoosh" moment.

DeadlyStupidity

Yeah, it happens to the best of us

ulfric_stormcloack

And to me too

LOLLO_102

Ye I'm not racist XD

Womblue

Tweets from people of any race are allowed here... why would you have a problem with that?

LOLLO_102

The...name of the subreddit maybe?

thefinalgoat

I’ll be 35 in 5 years but I’m pretty sure this kid is a Zoomer and talking about Zoomers and not Millennials…

TechNotesStuff

He's 23

thefinalgoat

Yeah that’s a zoomer.

numba1mrdata

That's gen z

BadAdviceUncle

There was Andrew Yang... he had some good shit in mind.

foodbucketlist

Except it’s close to impossible to implement any of it.

duderino_okc

Exactly why the DNC hated him. #yanggangforever

GoSeeCal_Spot

Except his plans could not function in anyway what so ever in realty.

numba1mrdata

Since when does r/WhitePeopleTwitter care about what policies would function in reality?

Sg15082008

(Tiktoker become president) Hi guys, only 1 month back in Afghanistan and I already pulled a devious lick of a taliban training camp, POGGERS!

evo_one252

Talking like this generation is actually gonna vote and not waste their time making fucking tik toks about how everyone should vote

LockAzzy

I would love to see him run when he's old enough.

GrilledCheeseGG

How is this whitepeopletwitter when dangelo wallace is african-american?

jolinar30659

I can’t wait until us millennials are finally in charge.

Veloziraptor1138

Mayor Pete!

Zwischenzugz

the same people who just turned 35 happily voted for the last two Presidents, soooooo

theAlphabetZebra

I'm 35. Vote for me?

TreyHaur

I’m 36, who wants to help me run a campaign? I have a ton of baggage but I’m also overly confident in my abilities

gotexans85

36, but I don't want that headache.

Zsevern

We had Yang for a hot minute last time around. He's not that young but way better then what's been offered so far. Maybe one day

aliciasawesome

butegeg?

Iamthe0c3an2

You guys had a shot with Andrew yang I know he ain’t 35 but he’s younger than most others and is a POC and I liked some of his ideas. His idea of giving everyone a $1000 kinda ended up happening with the pandemic. So it wasn’t so crazy after all.

VitaminZebra

While funny. Kanye fans exist. And they are also that age.

crisbot

It would only work if your generation voted.

slamin69

Im 52 and I cant wait for the younger gen to take charge. My peers are totally inept.

SoonToBeFree420

Can't wait to vote for AOC for president

intothevoid127

I thought that too but my generation got fed up with slow change so we doubled down and kept electing our grandpa's thinking he was going to give everyone a dollar and lollipop but he got mean like that old neighbor lady who kept our toys. It'll happen to your generation too.

petticoat_juncti0n

AOC baby

Thatsjustyouliving

People: We want a president who still has a stake in the world he'll live in after his presidency. America: Best I can do is an octogenarian with a workin' class accent.

movzx

More like People: We want a president who still has a stake in the world he'll live in after his presidency. Same people: \*don't vote\* America: I guess I'll go with whoever the octogenarians voted for

imdesmondsunflower

Doing it. 👍

farbauti007

We just got an irresponsible, tantrum throwing kid outta there for fk sake! Give people some time to heal dude!

Posttoasted66

I'm old AF and I totally agree.

SirTrentHowell

Pete Buttigieg already ran and still lost to a giezer.

Admiral_Andovar

You don’t get one until GenX gets one. Wait, what? You forgot about us again? Oh well, guess I go back to watching ‘The Breakfast Club’.

Krieghund

Gen Xer here. We're claiming Obama. Some...but not all...ways of dividing the generations.put him with us.

Admiral_Andovar

Ok, I’ll take Obama.

bsend

We need the government to stop being full of old people who paid for college by waiting tables and don't know how to rotate a pdf. They are running this country into the ground.

CodgerConsulting

I'd suggest getting behind Alexandria Ocasia-Cortez. She is currently 31, I think, so now would be a good time to start pushing her to stand at a future presidential election. As an EU immigrant to the US, I find her politics centrist. She also seems intelligent and not one to take shit from anyone.

IND_CFC

She’s too unpopular to ever win national office. Whether justified or unjustified, her reputation makes her incapable of winning any of the critical swing states.

Samcrochef

Maybe if she was actually an effective legislator beyond publicity stunts and tweeting we would.

1100000011110

AOC 2024

thatha98

No because our generation has social ansxiety

JackHGUK

Speak for yourself, tf you mean we all have social anxiety.

scottwax

Won't make a bit of difference. Money and party platforms determine how a president will govern.

gingerbeardman79

Truest comment in the thread getting downvoted..

LiosIsHere

And what generation would that be? Gen Z? Because they thought Millennials would save them, but look how that turned out...

StealYourGhost

Wasn't there this one candidate that ran on UBI as a platform who is within our age group and was passed over because he's not an ancient old white guy?....

CarpeMofo

Andrew Yang I believe is who you're talking about.

StealYourGhost

Yep! We had him and Buttigeg (spelling?) And they were both pretty instantly demonized even by their own parties. Lol

CarpeMofo

Buttigeg would have never won because he's gay. Maybe in 20 years, but I don't think a gay person could win now. It sucks, it's not fair, but it's the world we live in.

StealYourGhost

Ah I forgot the straight portion of the old rich white guy equation, that we've only diverted from once thus far in history. 🤔 (though arguably Lincoln and a couple others dabbled in dudes, but not openly)

Tirugamo

Ok, well realistically, who would the best candidate be?

RollinThundaga

Buttigieg (sp?) And Yang were two options

cameron0208

Two terrible options… Both are snakes and wholly unqualified.

RollinThundaga

As opposed to a pair of geriatric fucks?

cameron0208

I didn’t say that. I said Yang and Pete were unqualified.

RollinThundaga

Buttigieg was a mayor of a medium sized city and yang has a law degree.. so *wholly unqualified* is a stretch, if you're comparing them to the average American.

cameron0208

I’m not comparing them to the average citizen… Pete wasn’t a good mayor and Yang’s ideas aren’t realistic in any way. You’re using fallacious logic to draw your own conclusions.

numba1mrdata

I'm sure you think Trump was very qualified

numba1mrdata

This comment is why leftists ALWAYS fail. Buttigieg is a fantastic choice and represents 99.9% of the issues that ya'll stand for but because he doesn't PERFECTLY match your ideology he is as bad as trump to you. SMDH.

Worried-wilts

For those who don't know, he has a pretty good commentary channel on YouTube where he backs everything up with evidence.

altaccount70th

that guy who made the josh fight is running for president in 2037

zitrooel38

Doesn't matter president. We need all new government. Anyone over the age 65 force to retire. New judges new everything!

Science-Sam

I think you have to be 35 to serve, not to run. In other words, born on or before Jan. 20, 1990. 31-year-old people can announce their run today.

BxGyrl416

You say that now. Remember: Trump’s kids are all “our age.” Be careful what you wish for.

thejovo59

AOC is getting closer!

BoppinTortoise

Bruh. We could have had Andrew Yang

Assfrontation

AOC might soon

Icy_Introduction_599

What if the person is conservative? Would you still vote for that candidate?

RollinThundaga

Yes, because they're young enough to change their vpositions given adverse evidence.

BlessedNobody

Thank you guuci wallace

DanYHKim

210811_leaded-toothpaste.txt Toothpaste tubes were made of an alloy of lead until the 1970s. I remember when they suddenly switched to plastic. Nor to mention paint, gasoline, and the ink used to print onto food wrappers. We of the older generation have our brains steeped in lead. I have hope that a new rationality will emerge when we all die out. https://www.nytimes.com/1973/02/01/archives/dental-group-challenges-a-peril-in-toothpaste-in-its-own-journal.html

grennysohail

And deal with the crackpots and racists old men that look like skin and bones?? fuck that

BookishPisces

We don’t have the money to run for president.

The_Solstice_Sloth

Our generation has just as many dumbasses and evil shitheads in it, dont forget.

pumpman1771

Its always been that way and always will be. I heard and felt this way when I was younger too.

trumpetrabbit

I've thought about it, but it'll be 11 year minimum for me.

Grregson

We’re so fucking close. Big changes to come in the next decade I presume

-eschguy-

Turning 35 in 2023.....so maybe!

[deleted]

We’re going to just skip millennials?

BasicCow5378

Can’t just run. Gotta win, too.

Phil_Drill

I’d be too terrified that shit I said on Reddit/MySpace/Facebook/Deviantart/etc 10-20 years ago would get dug up

amaretto1

Madison Cawthorn still has another 10 years to go before he can run. Charlie Kirk a little less than that…

Bulky_Cry6498

Be more specific. The youngest party leader in New Zealand, at 30-something, is a right wing piece of shit who wants to undo our minimum wage increases and gut public services.

Throwawayacc9462

D'Angelo Wallace is literally so based

purpleblah2

When does AOC turn 35?

Oofs_A_Lot

Lame. That “person” turns 35 thru years of living, working, and theoretically learning wisdom of things. That person that turns 35 matures AND will most likely make the same decisions the current elected officials make
