Highly recommend the Tarantula if you don't have Stormchaser. Hell, I would just recommend buying it anyway, that's a great roll.

Never used it, what makes this roll so good?

Field Prep/Box Breathing is probably the best roll this thing can get, TBH. Field Prep is always good (more ammo, faster reloads for crouching) and Box Breathing is the only worthwhile damage perk in the pool. I was using it last season during arc burn GMs and it was very good, although Stormchaser will be overall better.

Stormchaser has significantly higher damage, but it will probably be dependent on Aeon Insight because its ammo finder bricks are broken and don't work with Scavengers (always drops as 1 shot). This Tarantula roll is great for GMs because both of the perks improve ammo economy when using it primarily for fighting Champions which have windows of vulnerability.

box breathing triggers when the shot is fired so you can start charging before it's active as long as the shot goes off after. Ideally would add liquid coils and a non-charge time MW to improve damage per shot since you have to wait ~1s between shots anyways. overall other LFRs are better, but having an arc LFR is useful for arc burn activities. I had a similar roll that I deleted and regretted it as soon as GM lightblade came around. will probably hold this one for a while

Before stormchaser released, I'd have been foaming at the mouth for that tarantula. Either way it's a pretty alright roll.

if they would just revert the box breathing nerf it would be a literal god roll

I have a Liquid Coils / Moving Target / Box Breathing Tarantula and even with the nerf that thing *shit on* the Lightblade Nightfall and allowed me to almost pull off a flawless on my last run of it last season. You can delete Lucent Hive in the boss room, by yourself, before they can even finish a jump to the platform after spawning and get a shot off.

Instead they’re gonna probably nerf Stormchaser instead of bringing other linears up to power

power creep is not a good thing and it is exactly what would happen if they brought every other LFR up to the power of Stormchaser.

I'm sorry but why is that a bad thing? Linears were already a good pick for boss DPS after their buffs, but stormchaser came out and blew all other legendary linears out of the water immediately. If they buffed the rest of them to match stormchaser all you get is even more power creep. They can nerf stormchaser and it will still be one of the best weapons in the game.

You say that now, but Bungie tends to over-nerf things and then spend seasons slowly un-nerfing them. Snipers? Xenophage? Stasis got tuned every season of Beyond Light. Linear fusions weren’t this good until last year around this time and we’re in Y5 of Destiny 2 I think and they’ve been in the game since vanilla. Seems counterproductive to nerf them now

But they wouldn't be nerfing all linears. They just need to bring aggressive frame linears, of which there is only 1, closer to the output of precision linears. If they over nerf stormchaser and it loses out to the rest of the linears, it would be a shame. We don't need more weapon types to become heavy grenade launchers. But it's pretty easy to avoid that by just not making aggressives do less damage than precisions.

I agree. Linears are in a great place. Stormchaser is straight up power creep - likely tuned that way to sell the dungeon. I guarantee when the season is over and they have their sales numbers it will get balanced for the start of the next season

Exactly this

> I'm sorry but why is that a bad thing? OG Y2 The Reckoning is why power creep is a bad thing. Bungie tried to address power creep through difficulty instead of nerfing weapons and abilities, and it got to the point we were on a narrow bridge with stomp bosses, endless adds, and snipers on all sides, with a timer. They had to nerf the hell out of it when they finally started reining weapons and abilities in because completion rates fell below 5% at one point.

Storm chaser isn't power creep. It trades the range and easy precision damage of a Precision LFR, for more burst damage. In addition, right now it has much *much* worse sustain than other LFRs since it has no ammo generating perks.

The range is negligible. There are not many boss arenas that are even big enough to notice the range difference between a precision linear and an aggressive linear. The precision damage thing could be a point, but unless you're hitting every single crit with a god roll precision linear and keeping full uptime on the damage perks, stormchaser can still outdamage it with a couple of the bolts here and there hitting the body. From damage testing I've seen, the only combo that consistently out-damages stormchaser is a cataclysm with bait and switch or focused fury. Both requiring you to hit every crit, and bait and switch requiring excellent skill with swapping. Meanwhile, the damage perks on stormchaser are all basically passive. Frenzy is just slow activation, and firing line is just "stand near people." Stormchaser at its best is much easier to use than any other linear that even comes close to rivalling it.

You're actually in denial if you don't think Stormchaser isn't power creep out the fucking wazoo. Just wait until next season when everybody will be rocking arc and the amount of silliness that's gonna ensue when you start stacking all the damage buffs like Font of Might with Stormchaser. (Especially since arc wells are much easier to make than any other element)

Why are arc wells easier to make? The dedicated arc well mod requires finishers.

Because it has no cooldown. Melee Wellmaker, Elemental Ordnance and Reaping Wellmaker all require you to use an ability and kill an enemy with it. Overcharge Wellmaker just needs you to finish anything and you can make as many as you want as long as you have something to finish. I actually had forgotten about Supreme Wellmaker so I'll correct myself and say that stasis wells are the easiest to make since that does not even require an enemy to kill. Arc ones are still easier to make than void or solar ones though.

I guess, but you still have to get a finisher. Outside of solo content and master/gm content, most enemies just die before you really get the chance, and when you want finishers your 2-5 other teammates will just slaughter everything before you get the chance. Meanwhile grenade kills and the like just kind of happen naturally, and the cooldown isn't long enough to impact the buffs you get from the wells.

I mean you can coordinate these sort of things. When I LFG Vow every week I tell my team to leave 2 thralls alive before damage phase for elemental wells and most of the time they'll listen. Ever since I started doing that i went from always 2 phasing to 1 phasing every now and then. Elemental wells are extremely impactful.

Stormchaser was released like that to sell a dungeon. It’ll get massacred, likely next season. I’m not a fan of Bungo starting this trend of purposefully releasing overpowered things just to sell the new shiny. It’s bad practice.

I completely disagree with you. The pro's masaively outweigh the small cons. It's dps is off the charts

> off the charts [Not really](https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/vj01l8/i_tested_all_the_linear_fusion_rifles_and_here/).

Yes. At it's best it does nearly half a million damage more. Case closed

Dude, this "damage testing" is a fucking joke... of course Stormchaser (burst DPS) is going to beat Cataclysmic (sustained DPS/total damage) on Phryzia.

That chart shows Stormchaser beating Witherhoard AND Cataclysmic with B&S by almost 500000 damage. Now add Witherhoard to Stormchaser and that goes up by another 210000. Do you even read the stuff you link?

Isnt the bait and switch catayclsimic better for dps though? Correct me if I’m wrong

Someone posted a dps chart for linear fusions not too long ago. You can probably scroll a page or two and find it. Tested all of them. Stormchaser with Firing Line out DPS’s Bait and Switch Cataclysmic by around 400-500k. Assuming you got all crits and you’re in a Well

Sheeeeeeeeesh okay

I hate you for saying it, but you're spot on. That's such a bungie thing to do.

Linears were already 'up to power' and strong enough - stormchaser was added as a massive outlier. The closest comparison is falling guillotine. They released a new archetype that massively outclassed other archetypes of the same weapon and ended up nerfing it. Twice. It's still a strong option.

I definitely prefer regular LFRs to Stormchaser for moving target, small ones, or one with small crits. Without div or running solo, plenty of bosses flinch and stagger and then you miss a crit or two and at that point, it's better to use a regular LFR

they just need to nerf stormchaser to be equal and now you have the four LFRs for each element, reeds, cataclysmic, threaded needle, and stormchaser

They don’t need to is the point though. The others do good dps and are a solid choice

im pretty sure stormchaser outclasses all the others will no real downside

LOL just break the LFRs no biggie.

I was just mainly talking about reverting the Box Breathing perk

Storm Bringer, Storm Chaser, Storm Breaker.

We need a sword called Storm Ruler now

In before Arc 3.0 Titan is the Storm Trooper, with a massive accuracy debuff.

i didnt look at the mw and mag choices but field prep box breathing is the god roll for tarantula

With tarantula I can land a headshot on Alakul during the NF. In GM content, at safe distant you can't land head shots with stormchaser. Different weapons.

I thought box breathing is really nerfed and not really viable for dps? Would a vorpal/firing line LFR be better?

Awesome. I don't have Storm chaser and Tarantula was my first Line FR that I fell in love with. She's coming back home!!!

Tower, Hangar

Our eyes, uncovered.

His arms, wide

Knees weak, arms heavy

Mom’s spaghetti

Rai and Jiri at Lungha.

On the Ocean

Shaka, when the walls fell.

Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra

Tentacles on the face, at the hanger…

^ this one :)

Shaka, when the walls fell

Kids: can we have Stormchaser? MomXur: We have Stormchaser at home Womp Womp

“The Paracausal Equine states that we have Stormchaser at home.”

*Compensentorial Whinny*

Pick up the tarantula if you need a good arc LFR and haven’t gotten a stormchaser yet. It’s a decent pick for arc burn nfs

Yeah that Tarantula is amazing. Highly reccomend.

jesus christ that eye of another world it's like the anti-roll

And to manage it on a 65? Impressive.

[Everything in one pic](https://i.imgur.com/5VVuR5e.png) with some tip (everything is my personal opinion, not fact) for whoever might need it. E: They did not fix the changing perks on the pulse rifle, so maybe you could get something good out of it (probably not).

Pulse is no longer swapping perks for me. It’s on grave robber, elemental capacitor.

Not a bad taruntula. If you don’t have stormchaser and want an arc fusion I think it’s worth a pick up.

What kind of mod should i apply too taruntula? boss spec or major spec.

Nightfalls you want champ damage so major spec. For boss damage you’d want boss spec.

cool thx

I usually use major spec to help with champions. But with how easily you can become radiant that may not be as necessary, so boss spec might do.

That would've been a god roll Tarantula if a better arc linear didn't exist

Buy it anyway for when they inevitably nerf Stormchaser

My thinking exactly. Stormchaser feels like they intentionally made it OP to get people to spend the money on a pretty mid dungeon. /Spinfoil

It's pretty obvious that was the intent, it puts out more damage than even my 1k, me and a buddy run divinity/stormchasers so when one runs out of ammo in a raid we swap to the other and can just destroy anything. I'm surprised they haven't nerfed it already.

They'll nerf it when they have something else to sell so we have at least 2 more months of this season to enjoy it.

tbf just about anything out damages 1k

I got a vault with several LRs that can prove you wrong, this season 1k seems to be doing less damage than ever, not sure if bug or intentional though.

but 1K does less dps than normal legendary linears. . . It was only good with particle deconstruction.

It's not a linear though, its a fusion rifle, but I was comparing it to a linear fusion for damage comparison, and it does less than threaded needle and tarantula, which are the only two linear legendaries I've bothered to use (but not now that stormchaser does insanely more than them), by the time you need more than 8 shots with it the boss fight is over, every raid except GoS

My only point is that comparing it to 1k is kind of silly, because 1k is hardly a benchmark for dps.

Or if they ever make box breathing better again.

Great Seventh Seraph VY-7 Perfect Tarantula Ok Eternal Blazon (best arc scout with best damage perk - other perks are not perfect) Great Hunter chest for PvE

> Great Seventh Seraph VY-7 I disagree. Vorpal on a submachine gun doesn't make too much sense. There's so many better smgs out there for arc too

It doesn't get anything better sadly. I agree that there are much better arc smgs but I was just saying it's great as far as it can get.

For PvP actually you’d want elemental in that fourth slot and firmly in the third. VERY good smg.

There are a lot better options for energy slot PvP smgs. I was talking PvE

Pfft. Name 45 better legendary smgs for arc that proc warmind cells. I'll wait.

Your mom procs *these* Warmind cells

Explosive well maker in the streets, Wrath of Rasputin in the sheets

>Wrath of Rasputin in the sheets Cause my warmind cells got nerfed and don't boom as hard :(

He was being sarcastic.

It helps with champions depending on seasonal mods and that SMG doesn't have great perk options

It's a bloody shame as I've got a great ornament for it

It was really good on Ikelos during anti barrier sub I must say. Shit was juicy

And a sick accuracy masterwork too

gwisin really aint good. if you want to run a melee ad clear with added duration, arcstrider with raiden is literally infinitely better because that also means your running spectral for pve. its a set amount of energy gain before turning invis, meaning 1 heavy kill to invis is the same as 3 light kills and a heavy invis. Meaning to get any real use you can only use a heavy attack which locks you into a bit of an animation. A bad PvE super with a bad exotic tbh

I think they meant the legendary chest, which has a pretty decent stat roll if your focusing MOB/RES/STR

I was talking about the Took Offense one. Gwisin is useless yeah.

Dead man worth getting for PVE? I've got a similar roll, but figure I should wait for something good with Vorpal? Edit: Lot of praise for FTTC, but general consensus seems Vorpal would be better. I'll hold steady on this one since ciphers are hard for me to get.

I prefer Subsistence, but FTTC isn't bad.

ya I love my FTTC roll, I barely have to reload the fucker.

*yeehaw intensifies*

I love my subsistence roll. I was upset at first, but it makes it more viable in higher level strikes than fttc and vorpal. You can get like 25-40 shots off before having to reload which takes forever on that gun.

Same. At first, I didn't think I would use it much thinking Vorpal and Snapshot would get more use, but the Subsistence roll has been my workhorse for ad clears. Clear out the Tier 1 ads and once you're at 5x cranial spike, take out the tankier enemies.

Especially with chromatic fire.

Yup, that's my exact setup on my warlock, especially for the Preservation mission. I wish the explosion would occur faster because I can clear out 1-2 adds before the explosion does. I love one-shotting the red bars. DMT just clears out adds with ease without having to reload.

I kinda hate how slow it can take to reload but DMT with On Your Mark fully stacked is a dopamine rush

I ran FTTC before the Vorpal buff. It was amazing in GM content as you had so much ammo in a mag against barrier champions, you could just keep shooting crits and keep their shields down with no problem. Vorpal’s 20% extra damage now is too good to pass on, though.

Nah, u either want vorpal (high end) or subsistence (low end). 4th times is a middle ground but its just not very good

That Tarantula roll is definitely still worth picking up, unless we get another Arc LFR any time soon and considering how powerful Stormchaser is right now, combined with Bungo’s history of nerfing things based off of usage rates. It’s definitely worth having and throwing in your vault for when that time comes. If it wasn’t for Stormchaser I’d be all over that roll, I actually spent an ungodly amount of time grinding for one some seasons ago. Only to see the perfect roll being sold here, I’m definitely gonna pick it up regardless.

> combined with Bungo’s history of nerfing things based off of usage rates. yupp, that's why i bought it too. Just in case

That’s a pretty tasty Gnawing Hunger if you don’t have the Sub w Ramp/Demo roll. Stable as a laser with Zen.

Gnawing hunger is dropping in DoE this week right? I'd love this roll

Yup, that’s what I’ve got (with a range masterwork). 15.3k kills and still going strong.

I know it's not what most people look for, but Toil and Trouble with Assault Mag + Full Auto for max RoF is very fun. Note that the aggressive frame shotguns get a fire rate buff after a kill. So you get one kill, and then you can shoot very fast for an aggressive frame shotty. And rampage makes it that much sweeter.

Pretty solid stuff from Xur this week. Great Gnawing Hunger. Great Seventh Seraph VY 7 Great Tarantula if you don't have a Storm chaser Eternal Blazon could be a good choice for GMs if you need an Arc Scout as it has a long zoom scope and OFA.

Is anyone else noticing an accuracy masterwork on that Seventh Seraph SMG?

That gwisin vest roll though

What a shame that it's a Gweisin Vest

As in good or bad?

Good roll. Shit Exotic.

Good Tarantula, for longer range encounters

Man overall a disappointing Xur today. Bad stat spreads all around

For real, what's up with the 20+ Mobility warlock exotics lately?

Part of me wants to get them in case Mobility gets buffed.

I hope it does with Arc

2 weeks in a row :(

He had a couple spicy legendary stat rolls last week. Sigh

That’s a pretty good legendary Hunter chest piece

Really good DMT and Hawkmoon

hows that hawkmoon for pvp? the high stability and moving target makes it seems like its pretty good but idk. ive been saving for these two guns but if they trash i'll wait

You want RF or EOTS

Didn’t Xur sell this same legendary armor like a week or two ago?

I've only seen him with like 3 different armor sets and he usually holds onto them for 3 weeks in a row. Just move on, Xur.

wasn't HAWKMOON recent sold before as well?

That and Dead Man's Tale are sold every week, but the perks are different.

why is that? I mean why every week? Back in the day (old man voice) XUR offered different shit each week.

He still does. Hawkmoon and DMT were exotics with random rolls that you got from completing certain missions. These missions are vaulted, so the only way to get these two exotics now is through Xur. He brings a new roll on them each time he comes.

with all the exotics, we need repeat protection, or just more exotics offered... Or specific exotics added as new activities rewards?

Decent tarantula shame it’s been outclassed by storm chaser.

That Tarantula is pretty sweet. Not as good as Stormchaser but still pretty good.

Oh look, it’s the Tarantula I could have used for Lightblade last season but Stormchaser makes it useless. Still getting it in preparation for Stormchaser’s eventual nerfage.

Now that's a hunter chest bys holy

NB. I just picked up a few habits teasing my Ontario/Alberta guild back in WoW.

Is the “sunset” trials armor in Xur’s rotation? I’m missing a few pieces from the first set.

On light.gg there's a list of what armors Xur has a chance to sell. A lot of cool shit if fucking RNGesus were to play nice.

What about that gnawing hunger roll compared to last weeks ?

Miles better

All of my most insane exotic rolls are on Gwisin Vest, an exotic I never plan to use

I just pop in every week and hope he's got Threaded Needle.

Is there an in-game way to find the specific spot Xur is at? No app, no internet just the game.

Probably just to check all the possible spots

Tower Hangar.

I know that they want Xur to be a random thing, but for the love of god please have some kind of duplicate protection. Getting Eye twice in the same month is such a bummer dude.

Tarantula w/ Field Prep is capable of reaching a 6 mag |18 reserves which I’m not sure many other Linear Fusions can do.

I actually genuinely believe that with all my heart that all warlock gear has an affinity for mobility and strength over other areas. I need someone at Bungie to stop the madperson responsible and in return let xur sell high 60s armour with good intellect and excellent recovery and discipline, with some spicy reliance mixed in for good measure. Please and thank you, a guy who has been playing for 500 hours and only masterworked 4 legendary items because everything else sucks.

Nothing here is really inspiring me. It’s a good reminder that Merciless exists, I guess? Maybe I should try it out with Solar 3.0. But the exotic rolls are all meh, and the only legendary armor that looks decent is the Titan chest (64 total/44 in Res/Rec/Dis).

Merciless is pretty good in PvP now.

As a non raider man that deleted many Tarantulas seasons ago and now moans about lack of Arc LFR’s….. i will be buying this one

Is Xur not loading for anyone else ? Went to 3 different tower loads and he is not in the usual spot.

I got Citans Ramparts twice this week in engram drops. So naturally, of course it would be this weeks Xur's house of useless shit Titan exotic.

In this thread: good tarantula but storm chaser better x50

Man to hell with the matchmaking in this damn [game.](https://game.Is) Is there even a thing as SBMM? Me and my friends are average at best...but get matched nonstop against absolute gods and wierdly nothing but Korean players(i say that because of the clan names).

Looks like your comment contains a link that you may have added by accident.

That's a lot of mobility, no resilence. A ton of strength and low disc. I don't know the collections roll offhand but I'm guessing that the collections roll is comparable or maybe better. Edit: Grammar

The mobility is so unfortunate. But it's okay Recovery at least. Definitely a good starter piece

The mobility is so unfortunate. But it's okay Recovery at least. Definitely a good starter piece

Bungie pleeaassseeee re-add the exile armor to xur. Nobody would be opposed to it

> So DMT for like the 50th time I hope this is satire...

Dudes a gamer

That dude Games.

Dude looks like a lady.

1000 million hitting the streets if xur has either of the following next week \- hawk gun \- dmtmr he wouldn't dare

He sells DMT and Hawkmoon every week, chief.

>DMT for like the 50th time Xur always brings Hawkmoon and DMT - that's how he's been since WQ launch.

Oh hey, my power-crept Tarantula roll! Fuck you stormchaser, revert the boxed breathing nerf.

Xur... Where's the Escalation Protocol armor?

That titan chestpiece is pretty great, imo. 64 points distribute across the stats that tend to matter? Good shit. I know you generally need to prioritize Resilience over Recovery on a titan, *especially* these days, but having some pieces that split the difference a bit and give you both Recov and Resil is a good way to keep everything pretty respectable. Plus, Resilience mods are less expensive than Recovery mods, so it's easier to make up the difference of lower Resilience with mods than it is to fit in the Recov mods. I tend to be kinda picky with what armor I bother getting, but I'd give this a thumbs up. It's a good all-rounder.
