Call me maybe is a true banger

Carly Rae Jepsen has tons of bangers honestly

Run away with me is my fav!

Yes! Recently heard it fully after seeing a "rip vine" compilation and I'm madly in love with this song

loved that scene in Mr Robot where that song plays sooo much. it got me into that song.

That’s where I discovered it!!! Fucking fantastic show

That song is just perfect. I discovered it through Adam Neely's djazz cover arrangement of it (which is also a total banger), and now the original is one of my favorite songs ever.

Before seeing this comment thread I was gonna post this link to her song [Cut to the Feeling](https://youtu.be/Qlsu7RhOnsQ) lol. It’s unironically amazing and I love it idgaf

I love it too bro

i absolutely love this song, as a 27 year old man who mainly listens to alt and punk rock

23 and fucking same. I would absolutely love to see a Carly Rae Jepson mosh pit at Warped Tour ahaha

Ayyy ‘94 club woot woot. My Spotify playlist looks insane lol Call Me Maybe then The Game by Disturbed

Want you in my room is phenomenal

Does Rihanna count too?

Her album E-Mo-Tion is a fuckin classic.

Whole thing is pretty fire. Even Boy Problems, and I'm a straight dude in my 30s.

When Carly asks "Boy Problems, who's got 'em?" She was definitely still including straight dudes in their 30s. Cuz she knows that *everyone* has boy problems

Every hipster music nerd must like a pop album for the street credit. That album is a common pick

Positions by Ariana Grande is another go to, at this point avoiding listening to pop music is just as tiring as only listening to pop.

Hijacking this post to tell everyone: Give Carly Rae Jepsen another shot. She has been releasing pure bangers since 2016, her two albums Emotion and Dedicated are both fucking amazing, and [Cut To The Feeling](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlsu7RhOnsQ) might just be the best song she's ever released. I used to think of Carly as just "The Call Me Maybe girl," but I heard Emotion was surprisingly good so I took a chance on it, and now she's become one of my favorite artists. I know there are others out there who are missing out on some incredible pop music-- don't let that be you

Imo Dedicated Side B is peak Carly. If you took the first 6 tracks of both sides and made them their own album you'd have the greatest pop album of all time.

That's interesting! Stay Away has become one of my all-time favorite Carly songs, but I also think Window and Heartbeat are two of her worst songs, lol. Really all of Emotion and Dedicated Carly are amazing, and I would say Dedicated is my favorite album of hers

I haven’t listened much to Dedicated but Emotion is just amazing. Blasting that shit while I dance on my bed

E•MO•TION remains my favorite album of all time and easily one of the best pop albums ever made

As much as I love Taylor Swift and her pop songs, I have to agree that EMOTION is a top tier pop album

So is wannabe!

Those disco strings in the background really elevate the whole production tbh, sounds clean

Lol I just found it on my Spotify daily mix and it's on my Playlist. When I saw the meme the first thing who went on my mind

I hear this all the time in my store and I love it lol

This was the very first one I thought of, it's a classic. Her song with Owl City, I think it's called Good Time, is from around then as well and it's a banger too

I wanted to listen to a generic k-pop song just to assure myself that I dislike the genre but the song was a fucking banger.

[SISTAR - Give It To Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teZfoa6ju18)

Had such a hard crush on Soyou when I was younger. Fucking love this group ❤️

This song fucking slaps. I love the disco vibes.

I like that a lot more than I would have assumed

I was honestly the same until I heard [LA DI Da by Everglow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeI992mvlEY) and I realised I was just avoiding an entire sector of awesome music! [God's Menu by Stray Kid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQTlCHxyuu8)s and [Under Cover by A.C.E.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeeuPi-vTyE) are also bangers as well!

Just gonna throw [Jessi](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEu1OWf8ezU), [Itzy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOKMx1jeCjY) and [Mamamoo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp56JdkmE9s) in the mix. Really warmed up to Kpop over Covid. Was the best music to keep my mood up, now it's amazing workout music.

I'll continue by adding that k-pop is not just pop music. For people with more rock backgrounds you might enjoy [Day6](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWUGikRxGQs) or [The Rose](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7deG88fT0I). Both bands have full English songs if the language is a barried. [Day6](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WehhSc1knYY), [The Rose](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7deG88fT0I) Also the [Korean R&B](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3YHzWM7DCI) scene is nothing to sleep on either.

Oh yeah I love Day6. In terms of rock sound I can also recommend [Dreamcatcher](https://youtu.be/1QD0FeZyDtQ) who are known for experimenting with their rock pop sound.

Oh lol yes why did I forget DC in my list :p It's probably because I've been exclusively listening to the ones I mentioned the last few days.

You are awesome! Dreamcatcher makes some of the best music in the entire industry!

Excellent recommendations! Loca and LORO by Tri.be may be up your alley too.

Gonna check it out! Checked it out: Me likey!

God's Menu.. life-changing.. not as much as Side Effects imo, but I did learn the choreo for God's Menu faster than Side Effects' 🤭 (G)I-DLE's Latata hit me harder than constipation and healthcare bills cus jfc the song is a BOP

Me with Dynamite and Butter

Which song?

The song was Pick Me Up by Perfume. But now I remembered that was J-pop.

When it goes hard it goes hard 🤷‍♂️

It was Gangnam Style wasn’t it

For you guys that miss Twice cute concept [Love So Sweet](https://youtu.be/9OZPwJdl_4w)

I used to hate GaGa as a teen, now everytime she comes on the radio I blast that shit.

I was those stupid pre teens who absolutely HATED Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, etc. Now I have no shame in playing their music

No joke Lady Gaga is a really talented singer. She also sang the national anthem at Biden's inauguration and it was really good. Edit here's the link: https://youtu.be/HezPdHTwdGA

Oh yeah her live performances are great. Like I said I was just a stupid pre-teen who thought she and others had no talent lol. Also I used to believe in the Illuminati (ughhh) and thought she was a part of it lmao

A lot of people were turned off by her early antics (looking at you, meat dress) and outlandish music videos, but it all makes sense when you realize she's also a performance artists. Most singers only see their vocals as their art form, but Lady Gaga extended her art to her presence, too.

My thing with her was she wasn't very strategic with how she released her music, it was like four albums in four years or something, so people got tired of her sound and aesthetic pretty quickly. I remember when she finally took a break and came back with Joanne and I was like "oh I forgot I loved this".

I used to rip on ke$ha every chance I could, and now I routinely blare *We R who We R* and *Tik tok* E: *Timber* too

I still think it's a chore to listen to 2010 Bieber, his voice is just way too high for me. Bieber today is my home commute music.

I was one of those preteens who didn't mind it, and now I fucking hate all of it because my work blasts pop music 24/7 and I hate it

Madonna for me! [The song I can't not turn up.](https://youtu.be/SOhJHS7Rvrg)

The confessions on a dance floor album is one of the best things I've ever heard

My girl likes pop, I like metal, we meet in the middle with metal covers of pop songs haha https://youtu.be/CaBzi4T6h78

I'm sure you've seen them, but there are various "punk goes pop" covers kinda like that [August Burns Red - Wrecking Ball](https://youtu.be/E-Pjdb8_uKw)

My ex and I were like this! I came out of the relationship with a fondness for symphonic metal but that was about it. He would incessantly mock me for non ironically enjoying Disney music and P!nk.

Aw that kinda sucks. I don't play the covers to try and force her into metal, it's more when we're trying to be goofy. It's convenient because she knew the words, which is her biggest criticism of metal. Not being able to understand lyrics easily. I stopped being a music snob after I heard a really good quote. "Those who claim to hate a genre of music, simply don't understand the context in which it's meant to be enjoyed" Keep jammin to your jams!

ABBA is the greatest musical group of the 20th century and I will die on that hill

There are two types of people in this world, those who admit that they love ABBA and those who are lying.

I will die up there with you

How is ABBA girly only gigachads listen to ABBA

Everyone trying to create those disco beats to this day and oh look, it's an ABBA sample.

So I am not the only one ha ?

My playlist switches from Black Metal to Lana Del Rey, to No Savage, then to Chopin. Even my vibes are confused.

I got a kick out of the Spotify story recently about “how you listen” when it was like, “Who else besides you would follow up Dua Lipa with Modest Mouse?”

i like Meghan Trainor

Riptide is fire.

riptide was never not fire tho. Small aussie artist that made a great indie folk track that blew up internationally. Not really a girly pop song

I’m a barbie girl in the barbie world.

You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere Imagination, life is your creation

Come on barbie let's go party

Ahh ahh ahhhhhh

It was my dad's ringtone and I hated it. Now I'm commenting 'who's here in 2021' on YouTube.

Darkly satirical but hated on for being shallow. How can anyone listen to the lyrics and think it's promoting the Barbie Girl life?

Man, i always thought that song is about Barbie... Then i watch the lyric video..

Somehow it took coming out as bi to admit to myself I like Madonna😅

Charli XCX <3

(Lets ride)

beep beep

This. I grew up listening to mostly rock, alternative, and country. But last year I heard the song “boys” by Charli XCX and it was an immediate hit. I can literally put that song on loop and jam to it for hours. The beat, the swagger, and her voice are all just so good

I got a pocketful pocketful of sunshine

I got a love and I know that it’s all mine oh, ooh woah oh

*Blow* by Kesha is unironically pretty hype when you imagine a fight taking place while you listen.

That one popular remix of this song at that time (I think by Cirkut or something like that) absolutely blew my fucking mind as a kid lol. Shit went hard

Britney Spears man. Such generic pop music that hits harder than some metal songs.

I would like to say that Toxic is incredibly complex from the sampling to the composition and definitely sits a cut above most pop music

I love the Mark Ronson remix, with ODB samples.

Funny how I used to dislike Rihanna and Beyoncé as a kid but now I like them as an adult. I would’ve missed out on kickass singers like Christine and the queens, Robyn, Carly Rae, Billie Eilish, Grimes and more if my taste didn’t mature

I always say my guilty pleasure is mainstream pop music, because even if they are mostly written by the same 3 Swedish guys, the vocalists can do some crazy shit

Sometimes you just want something simple and catchy to sing a long to

Absolutely, Love On Top by Beyoncé is a great example, it’s so nuts what she can do Also I like the dancers in the music video

Don’t know that one. I’ll check it out though. Thanks! I like single ladies and hold up a lot

Hope you enjoy

Roybn is just too good! I remember finding her in high school. I thought Dancing on My Own was an older song because the video kind of looked like it may have been from the 90s or something. I loved it though. I remember sitting in class, listening to Call Your Girlfriend on REPEAT so much that when I listen to it now, I can see Plants Vs Zombies in my head because I would play that between projects when I was done stuff. Saw her in 2019...one of the BEST shows I've ever been to. She is such an amazing performer and people were doing the Call Your Girlfriend routine on the steps. I cannot wait for her to tour again. I like what Billie Eilish is but not a fan of most of her music. everything i wanted is the first song I heard from her that made me really like her. But I avoided Bad Guy like the plague.

That new Olivia Rodrigo album has some bangers. Good 4 U is an absolute bop.

God I cant stand it lol the day it dropped I think I heard it a couple dozen times against my will via my girlfriend watching tiktok

It’s so catchy for reasons I don’t understand. You hear it once and it gets stuck in your head for a week

K-Pop songs are actually catchy and the pretty girls are pleasant to look at. Of course I never talk about it to my irl friends though.

this is the story of my life

!Remindme r/razaxun will have his coming out party at New Years 2022

Fellas, is it gay to like girls?

I have been vibin to Doja Cat recently

Anyone else here who rediscovered Taylor Swift?

Taylor Swift’s just so cool. I love her.

I've honestly loved Taylor Swift since I was a 17-year-old boy first hearing "Teardrops on my Guitar" (a song which still makes me tear up). Over the years I've secretly snuck in listens to a lot of her music when I'm alone or wearing headphones. Now I'm almost 32 and I just openly listen to her last two albums all the frickin' time. Fuck it, she's talented and I'm not ashamed to admit that.

Hell yeah. I was always kind of into her singles but a few years back someone recommended checking out her 1989 front to back, so I did and it's great! Her Reputation album isn't really my thing, but I'm with you on her last two albums, both will likely have songs on my most listened too playlist at the end of this year on spotify.

love some Katy Perry

Me with Justin Bieber

As a grown man at 25, I’ll admit that I listen to My World 2.0 album all the time

I found my people. Let me just say the Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lorde, and Katy Perry, as well as the OGs (Gaga, Rihanna) are my fave pop girls. Man, it feels so good to admit it.

Good music can come from anywhere. It transcends time, genre, and artists. Don’t ever be ashamed of it, anyone who gives you shit for that is close-minded and miserable. And I totally agree with you :)

Agree and thanks! I’ve been very open to others with my love for Taylor ever since Folklore and Evermore dropped as somehow people are more accepting towards her for some reasons, but not the other ones. It really feels good to just vibe with the music you actually enjoy, and not be ashamed for liking it

Also like pop music is engineered to be very good. There's real talent behind actually writing the songs. Pop stars tend to just be sexually attractive young people who can just about hold a note but the people behind Katy Perry and Justin Bieber are total pros. There's nothing wrong with liking stuff that's really good just because it's cheap and mass produced. Real chefs will eat a McDonalds every now and then. It's only pretentious people whose own talents don't speak to their discernment that make a big deal about mainstream stuff being bad.

“I am Lorde Ya Ya Ya”

Ya Ya, feelin good on a Wednesday!

Help me unload the car ya ya ya

Tennis Court fucking slaps and so does the Flume remix, I love that shit

Without those lines, I definitely feel this.

Fr! I was so happy that she returned. “Solar Power” is growing on me.

I hate the heat and sunny weather but Solar Power got me feeling like "hm, maybe I do love summertime."

same, i’m more of a rainy kind of guy, this song just makes me want to go to the beach alone and vibe.

Ladies with an attitude Fellas that were in the mood Don't just stand there, let's get to it Strike a pose, there's nothing to it Vogue

Ooooooooooooo you got too Let your body move too the music!

Taylor swift the one and only

I'm in love with Sigrid's music.

Now I’m gonna go with murder

I'm a grown ass man and I'll listen to Avril Lavigne if I wanna.

I wonder if it’s due to the fact that when we are older, we are more confident and busy with actual life problems that we just want a fun release, and girly pop music is an easy way to achieve this release. I’m a huge fan of that 90s early 2000s eurodance/trance stuff like Better off Alone and Vengaboys. Also helps that I have a daughter that likes to jam to this too lol I think I’m just a sucker for female vocals

Lol this is me and my friends everytime we drink.. soon as we feel the buzz the eurodance tunes get played get played LOUD

Big fan of Camila Cabello

Ewwww only girls listen to that Yeah and what about it?

A friend of mine literally told me (m20) that I have the music taste of a 12-yr old white girl. I did not really mind him because I’m vibing here with Taylor Swift on full blast.

Glad to see posts like this on the front page instead of shit like "Unpopular opinion: DAE think Beyonce is overrated??"

That song called Say So by Doja cat is my guilty pleasure. The music is great and the lyrics are kinda funny. I don’t know I love it.

I love the main chorus theme. Super catchy

🎶cause every time we touch, I get this feeling🎶

You can see the different generations of "girly songs when we were kids" in these comments represented by Carly Rae Jepson, ABBA, and Barbie Girl. My mind went to Barbie Girl, but I'm 30.

Party in the USA tho

Same thing with Bon Jovi, lol.

Hot n Cold by Katy perry and Tiktok by Kesha are my guilty pleasure songs

Oh I'm not guilty about liking them at all. Me and my friends blare Hot N Cold regularly when we have some drinks

I’m 23M and I’m still listening to Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne If it sounds good I listen to it!

Toxic is an all time slapper #freebritney

For me the transition happened when pop music starting getting released that I actually fully loved. Lizzo, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, pop music is fucking sick these days and so much more inventive IMO

Convinced Spotify thinks I’m a flaming homosexual with the type of music I play.

Its the exact opposite with me though, I can’t listen to those anymore

Good 4 U is such a guilty pleasure rn

Big Backstreet Boys fan here. Can confirm. Nsync is trash btw.

I'm really disappointed I didn't listen to Toxic 500 times in high school, buy I am making up for it now.

the new song by that drivers license girl is kinda fire ngl

Not gonna lie, a lot of the music on my workout playlist are pop songs or covers of pop songs (Punk Goes Pop) that I wouldn’t be caught listening to in high school

I'm in this picture and i kinda like it.

I was laughing with my wife the other day because my Spotify year summary is half Power and Prog Metal, half Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.

Idc we bumpin to Doja Cat in the car

Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" is my new favorite song to sing along to, so this hits fairly close to heart.

How did they know

I kissed a girl, and I liked it

Paper planes song slaps though

Britney spears fuckin SLAPS

I feel this.

from carcass to caramelldansen

[The Swedes knew what was up!](https://youtu.be/PDJLvF1dUek)

Never liked them…But Justin Bieber on the other hand

What do you mean by girly?

Now rappers are making remixes to them
